Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A structured, graded and logical approach to writing - I would recommend this book to any educators, both at school and home educators, looking to help children overcome their fear of writing. One of the reason many children disengage with writing is that they are overwhelmed by demands that far outweigh their current skill level. What follows, understandably, is disengagement, dislike and even phobia of writing. That should ring alarm bells in any educator. By year 3 they are expected to write topic paragraphs and even ads independently. Many pupils, especially Send pupils, are still struggling with basic knowledge as this hasn't been fully understood and consolidated in previous years. A bit like expecting someone with one year ballet experience to perform The Nutcracker in front of an audience. Yet no progress can ever be made unless the basics are fully understood and become second nature. What is a sentence? What is a simple sentence? How can I enhance it? In my experience of teaching my adhd son, knowledge needs to make sense to them. The won't learn arbitrary rules unless they make sense. This book does just that, goes back to the fundamentals and works up to higher level writing. Review: Great starter for a lesson. - Great to use as a starter for an English lesson with my Year 3s.

Creative writing focussed tool.
I bought this to help me teach sentence structure and have daily practice for my ESOL entry level students. However it is really geared to creative writing and will work well with my higher level groups getting to grips with descriptive narratives. I would have like some examples of simple sentences that were verb heavy rather than just looking at feelings, but I can easily come up with some PowerPoints to use. This is really a good find I would recommend this even for GCSE students as starter activities to review grammar and sentence structure and develop their creative writing skills.

wonderful product
Using as an intervention program for my year 5 children. Progress is obvious. Easy to give to a TA to deliver from.

Good for primary kids writing
This good book is excellent for my girl. She is happy to learn how to write good sentences everyday. It's a good home study material for primary kids.

learning to creatively write
At first glance I thought this was for younger children. After giving the book a chance, it has proved to be a good resource on learning how to creatively write. At £16 and such a slim book, it's a little costly so I hope it proves to be worth the purchase. We have only started on the first few pages, but so far, so good!!

Fantastic resource
An invaluable resource. A systematic structure, gradually reintroducing known sentence structures and breathing new life and purpose into them. Allows children whose knowledge and practice has been affected by lockdown or simply maturity.

Absolutely not worth it
I never review products but I am so disappointed by this particular I felt it was important to let other know. The book is beyond basic. It would not fit with the current end of KS2 criteria - more year 2/3. More than half of the pages of the book are photocopiable pages. There are no creative or beneficial ideas in this book. It is simply using overly basic sentences and getting children to write their own. An incredible waste of £16.

It’s an exercise book written for teachers. Looks like good practical exercises for pupils. Does not contain any sentence structure grammar theory or teaching.
