This backpack is perfect for the day hikes (about 8 miles &less). I used it today; very comfortable even though doesn’t have waist straps. The 2 pockets on the shoulder straps are the best. The only thing I would like to have in this back pack is an inside pocket, otherwise, I highly recommend it.

This was purchased for an Alaskan trip that included light day hikes. Also, I wanted a pack that would count as a personal item on a plane. This fit the bill well. It is durable, has enough compartments for separation of items but enough storage to carry personal items, a water bottle, a light jacket. It isn't overly heavy and was not uncomfortable to carry on full-day hikes. It fit under the seat on several plane trips. And this is from someone who hates carrying things that are unnecessary.
