The Berenstain Bears Visit Grizzlyland

More Accurate Title: The Berenstain Bears Learn Absolutely Nothing by Going to Grizzyland
Don't get your hopes up on this disappointing children's book. As a fan of the original Berenstain Bears, written by Stan and Jan Berenstain, the new versions written by their son, Mike Berenstain, are vastly different in quality and message. Original Berenstain Bear books were successful because the storyline centered on a single moral message that provided children with emotional tools to navigate modern society. However, in Berenstain Bears visit Grizzyland, I could not find any central message other than the premise that Grizzyland made Papa Bear sick and dizzy. The author missed out on an opportunity to teach a lesson about the real purpose of going to Grizzyland, such as making memories with family, or teaching that visiting Grizzyland can also mean making good choices about using family money, resources, etc. Unfortunately, the narrative lacks purpose and direction, which is a shame given the subject matter.

I was excited to receive this book and revel in all the sweetness it contained
As a huge fan of both The Berenstain Bears AND Disneyland, I was excited to receive this book and revel in all the sweetness it contained . So were my children. Unfortunately, it completely missed the mark. It should've been and could've been their best seller EVER with a title and subject like this. With a message of the bond of family, memories, nostalgia, learning lessons and joy in life worth living.. I feel as though I should've written it myself! There wasn't that feel at all. I DID like that cooky ol' Papa Bear was so himself as he was dizzy through most of the day. Not all rides are meant for everyone and that's part of the fun! Also, I was looking forward to the setting of the book to be as close to the iconic Disneyland as possible and it was just not. Sadly , a disappointment and I'm somewhat in denial...I WANT A DO OVER ON THIS BOOK! Please. Thank you. Much love!

Wish Stan and Jan hadn't died.
This Berenstain Bear book is written by their son. It is a shallow replacement for what his parents used to write. There's none of the richness of dialogue, plot, or character. I will not be buying any more of the titles written by him. Even my kids could tell it was written by someone different. Very disappointing.

like in most BB books
This is obviously Disneyland-like, but I gave it the lesser rating because there is no problem posed, with a solution offered or lesson learned, like in most BB books. They could have had wanting souvenieris, candy/junk food, long lines and waiting, or scary rides as a posed problem to overcome. The only problem is Papa has to wait until the end of the day to go on the pirate ride. The author of the book is Mike B, son to the original founders/writers.

great book to explain theme parks
I saw this book recommended on a Disney board I follow. I quickly bought it for my niece who gets overwhelmed with new situations. It is fantastic! We were going to be headed to Disneyland and quickly we were able to explain the rides and situations she could/would experience. My 4-year-old who has been to Disneyland loves this book and can draw the correlations himself right away. Great book!

Love the Berenstain Bears Books!
Such a cute book in the Berenstain Bears series. I love how these books have lots of photos and words for the kids. A lot of childrens books will have lots of pictures, but only a few words on each page which makes the book go fast. I like how you have a lot to read for the kiddos at bedtime that they would love!

another Mike Berenstain fail…
Nothing is worse than your parents saying they are disappointed in you… Stan and Jan would surely be disappointed in Mike’s handling of their empire. You can’t use “old-fashioned” three times in 2 short sentences unless you’re rhyming something. Hey Mike, try harder. Hire help. Call me. I’m sick of these new books with short, choppy narrative and no moral to the story. Dumbed down B-Bears. If you’re new to the series, only buy the Stan and Jan classics, there are plenty.

Great books
These books are so cute and nostalgic, and such a good price. I always order them for kiddies birthdays - there's so many themed ones. They're a good size and quality too!
