Same concept as the boho nail and string art that's taken over my local craft fair but in a kid friendly (no hammers!) format. The tapered nature of the pins makes them more stable in the foam than thumb tacks. My kid is still a little young for this kit. I'm not certain how well these little pins are going to hold up to her pulling the strings. She does most of the skillmatics kits very well at 4 so I ignored the ages 6-12 when ordering, but this one is definitely a 6 and up product. I think some 6 year olds also may not have the fine motor skills yet for pulling the strings tight enough for the art, but not so tight it pops the pins out. Just FYI for other moms out there with precocious crafters. We'll put it up for a few years or a particularly patient rainy day. Also, the package images show satin cord was used but the strings that are included are all embroidery floss. Embroidery floss can unravel and be hard to work with. I would definitely tape the untied ends of the string before setting a kid loose with this or it will end up being frayed tassle art.

What a fun activity! Kids loved it. The all-encompassing kit (boards, plastic pins, string, stickers) makes kids dive in and explore their creative side with little - to - no parental involvement needed! Our nine year old needed me to tie the knots in the end! She loved the kit - and created all the three projects with her friend. They decided to share the creations, and hang them in their rooms. There's both - a hanging option and a sticking option (peel off the paper on the back and stick), but the two kids decided to use the former so as to not damage any surfaces! Skillmatics creates really good activities for kids. Oh yes, there was this observation from the kids - the stickers included in this kit are actually way smaller than they depict on the box :)

My child enjoyed this activity. They did need some help and it took some time for them to get the hang of it. But, once they did, it was great and kept them busy for a while. The kit was just as described online.

So, I attempted this with my 4 year olds which is under the age suggested, and I can now see why. They were totally not able to do it, but as an adult, I personally think the kit is great and would be fun for adults or older kids. I liked that there were pre poked holes and the pegs are easy to stick into the foam. There are so many types of string included which I thought was great. The hardest part is just getting the string to stay wrapped around the pegs. Overall, for older kids this is a really great kit to make string art without using actual wood and hammer and nails and string .

A really fun craft kit for a little girl!

This will keep kids busy for a while. From putting the pegs in to stringing the coloured threads around the pegs to create the artwork, there's a good bit here that's engaging and easy to do. It's easy for little ones to do with minimal supervision.The kit was complete and had all materials needed for creating the string art. Instructions were clear and comprehensive. Strings and printed backers are all high quality and vibrant. The final products look awesome.

This is quite a bright and pretty activity for children! The foam boards are sturdy and thick and the pins are pretty easy to insert. I did order this for a child who is a little bit younger than the target age (she is 4) and I did definitely need to assist her to complete this project. However she did it with an older sibling who is 9 and had no problem completing it on their own! The illustrations are well done and the string is pretty and easy to string along the pins. Both my children really enjoyed this activity as there really is no way to get it wrong! The set is well made and easy to complete and delighted both my children.

We are big fans of Skillmatics in this house. Everything we have gotten from them has been quality and this is no exception. It is easy for kids to figure out with some guidance and looks awesome when they are done! Would be a great gift for a birthday or holiday!
