Waveshare ESP32-C6 1.47inch Display Development Board, 172×320, 262K Color, 160MHz Running Frequency Single-Core Processor, Supports Wi-Fi 6 & BLE, with Colorful RGB LED, ESP32 with Display

I’ve bought three of these now because they’ve basically become my daily driver for quick builds. I 3D-printed cases for each one so I can grab whichever is closest and flash whatever wild idea I’m chasing that day. They’re super easy to work with, the display looks great, and for the price you honestly can’t beat them. This is one of those modules you end up keeping on the desk because it’s too handy to put away. Great for experimenting, perfect for showing friends how fast you can spin up a project, and reliable every time I’ve used it. If you like tinkering, this is a no-brainer.

The SD card worked perfectly, and the documentation for the pinout was accurate. One word of advice: the display is not Gorilla Glass, so be careful when handling it or soldering the headers. I accidentally clamped an alligator clip onto the screen while soldering, and as you can see in the picture, it cracked very easily. That's on me—not the product.

I spent four hours trying to get this to work the first day and eventually gave up. When I tried to return it, I discovered it was listed as having hazardous chemicals, or something like that, and couldn’t be returned. It’s just a microcontroller and LCD screen—ugh. I then reached out to WaveShare, and they sent a PDF of the same information I’d already found on their Wiki. After another four hours of trying, still nothing. I want to understand why it’s not working, especially if it’s something I’m doing wrong—that knowledge is more valuable to me than the item itself. Unfortunately, the only follow communication from WS is the company is on holiday. I also noticed there are zero reviews, which I’ll take as a red flag moving forward. As a side note, I tried contacting Amazon, but I kept getting stuck in a loop, with the message that the item is non-returnable. I’ll chalk this up as a $20 lesson on WaveShare and Amazon customer support. I’m not upset, just a little frustrated by the wasted time. Mostly, I’m curious if reviews are being deleted or if this just slipped through the cracks. Either way, this experience will serve as a warning to others. Update: Although I do not feel i can change the rating of the product I wanted to update the review of the company. They reached out and apologized for the defective device, thanked me for advising them of the misclassification of the device as hazardous preventing a return, and refunded my money. They also are willing to continue working with me to fix the problem and if it turns out to be a defective product they will replace with a new working device free of charge. I probably will decline any further wasted time on this but will not hesitate to buy from WaveShare again. I am likely going to by the esp32s3 model which is the upgrade. If I find out there is a fix or that I was doing something wrong and the item works I will edit the review. My hope is that someone that got the device to work will post a review, but for now im the one and only review. EDIT: This product has been re-categorized as nonhazardous and so can be returned. Waveshare has worked with me to make the original work. I am glad i learned things and that I was able to work with Waveshare who has proven that they are committed to customer satisfaction. They have room for improvement still. I will not hesitate to buy from them again.

Esp32 is fine and works great. LCD was easy to program but gets too hot and causes black spots or washes the screen to black. Probably fine for testing but not recommended for production applications

It is truly a great product, but it is very fragile. I havr broken 2 screens just carrying them around. Maybe make a case for them or something because the edge of the screen will get destroyed super easy. Other than that it is a greatnvalue with lots of connection options, a nice small size with an excellent display quality, and is very versatile. I made a mini weather display thay connects to the wifi using credentials on an SD card.

This little thing is awesome! It does work with micropython (I guess technically unofficially) I highly recommend going to the wave share site and downloading the schematic. It’s laid out very clearly and the documentation is superb. While I get the point of examples, I would recommend starting with the schematic and going from scratch to understand the board. I wouldn’t immediately start with libraries etc.. It’s a joy to work on once you have an understanding of the board. The price is also very good. This board can essentially be the entire project.

This board is a nightmare to get the display to work which apparently has to do with coupling the ST7789 with the ESP32-C6 rather than an older ESP32 Dev board. Google this board asking about display configuration. The lamentation are colossal! For TFT_eSPI Library - massive number of library source code tweaks to get barely marginal operation that will squirrel out on you at the worst time. The Arduino_GFX library was tried and would display "something" sometimes but never the right color and rainbow pixel soup randomly appears.... that is if you can get it to compile in the first place. Tried to replace ArduinoESP32SPI with Arduino_HWSPI and manually initialize SPI to bypass the errors. Still no worky. The tutorials on the Waveshare Wiki for this board DO NOT WORK. In summary, until you confirm online that the various display libraries have been updated to accommodate this board or you are Steve Ciarcia or Dennis Ritchie, leave this board sitting in the Waveshare warehouse along with the demons that reside within it.

Placa desarrollo la cual todo gira alrededor del mítico ESP32, que podríamos decir que es un standard para este tipo de placas. Buena construcción, con buenas añadidos (se habría agradecido una pantalla táctil, pero también entiendo que encarecería y podría dar otros problemas. Además, en la página de la marca facilitan proyectos de entrada para explorar todas sus funcionalidades.

I bought this Waveshare ESP32-C6 board to build a tiny status display for my home lab, and it has been excellent. The 1.47-inch LCD is sharp and bright, the touch screen works well, and the whole thing is small enough to sit next to my monitor without being noticed. It has been running 24/7 for days, and it has not blinked once. Literally. The C6 chip is the right pick for this class of board. It is RISC-V; it has WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5, and even 802.15.4 for Zigbee and Thread. That last part is rare in dev boards at this price. My display polls a JSON file over WiFi every few seconds and the connection has been rock solid. The build quality is good. The board feels well made, the screen is bonded properly, and the microSD slot is a nice bonus for storage. The documentation is adequate, but you will want the chip's pinout sheet handy. The default SPI pins took me a minute to figure out. For the price, this is a lot of hardware. If you want a small connected display for IoT projects, dashboards, or desk gadgets, this board delivers. Mine has a name and a job now. That says it all.

Insgesamt ein klasse Produkt mit einem unglaublich guten Display trotz der kleinen Größe. Das verbaute Waveshare ST7789 LCD wird auch via Adafruit sauber unterstützt. Kontras: Hitze: Wird schnell sehr heiß. Hintergrundbeleuchtung sollte manuell per PWM auf max. 50 % gedimmt werden. Speicher: Die vorgeschlagene Library (LVGL) blockiert viel Speicher. OTA-Updates sind aus Platzmangel dann kaum noch möglich. Da die Wärmeentwicklung aber gut dokumentiert ist, gibt es trotzdem eine Kaufempfehlung !

Questa Waveshare ESP32-C6 è una scheda eccezionale. Avere il Wi-Fi 6 e un display integrato da 1.47 pollici a questo prezzo offre davvero un incredibile rapporto qualità-prezzo. È un modulo compatto, ben costruito e, soprattutto, è facilissimo da programmare con l'ambiente IDE Arduino. Viene riconosciuto al volo, perfetto per i progetti IoT. 5 stelle strameritate!

Was even prutsen maar met hulp van de officiële website het goed werkend gekregen. Nu een super leuk kleine display die gekoppeld is aan mijn Domoticz systeem om status van zonnepanelen, zonnecollectoren en katten weer te geven :)
