This solid red oak post is very good quality. We used it to update our stairs. Packaged well and came with no blemishes. I had already decided to paint it white, but after it was in, considered leaving the wood grain as it was very pretty. Too bad the railing I bought was poplar so had to paint it

I had my contractors use three of these (well, 2.5) to update my staircase since they were changing out the carpeted stairs to hardwood. I love the way it changed the look of the space! The contractors did have to cut the posts down a bit and smooth. I also bought the black metal balusters on Amazon. Everything arrived well-packaged with no damage.

Heavy solid oak. A few slight machine marks but on the whole very smooth and ready for light sanding and painting or staining. Good value

The length was 47" and was 3 5/8 inches. I had to modify the installation for them to fit because they were replacements.

Well, I just received this newel post today. Upon opening it, I noticed that one corner of the post was slightly bashed in. Not a big deal and I can edge it out with a camfer bit in my router, but it would be nice to be able to start with an item that had some decent quality inspection.

These are very heavy and solid but they are not completely all one piece. The 1/4 inch on the outside is glued on, it sounds like it would be a problem but you would never know if you don't look really close. Can be painted and with a little sanding and primer can be stained. Red oak so does need primer to stain correctly.

Well made post. Heavy, laminated from 4 or 5 large pieces. Worked perfectly for me.
