Very underwhelmed with this product in a classroom setting. Not robust enough for steady use!
Fan died within days. Flex in arm makes maintaining tension nearly impossible. Fuse burned out and impossible to access. Very disappointed in this product for the huge$$$.

The best pro machine out there
This seems to be a direct copy of the German Styrocut 3, which is the choice hot wire cutter for all pro modelmakers in New York. I have the Styrocut, not this one. The difference between for instance the Proxxon and this is enormous. Only a very skilled person can produce clean, dimensional cuts on a bad machine. Even a low skilled person or an intern can produce great, professional looking models with the Styrocut. Buy the best, you wont be sorry. And get the extended cutting fence from Styrocut, you'll need it for longer cuts, which is most cuts.
