The Pflueger Président XT casting reel is lightweight but packs a serious punch. The look is fantastic and modern. The fit and finish is superb and most importantly, the feel is high quality.I have purchased 4 of these for myself and family. I also own a Pflueger Patriarch XT casting reel and a Supreme casting reel. Although I absolutely love my Patriarch XT, it’s a 6.4:1. I was looking for something a bit faster and this fit the bill at 7.3:1. I have to say, it has the same smooth feel that the Patriarch has. The drag is actually 17+ pounds NOT 12 pounds as I’ve seen advertised in some places. It has hauls in several 2 to 4 pound largemouth bass and even a 6.5 pound catfish. No problem. All my President XT’s are paired with Fenwick HMX 7’ MH fast action one piece rods and 30 pound braid line.Bottom line, this reel looks, feels and performs like a much more expensive reel. Feel comfortable purchasing it.Perhaps Pflueger will release newer models of the Supreme and Patriarch for their diehard patrons? We can only hope!

Is the Pfleuger President Baitcaster the best reel ever made? Nope. Never claimed to be. But for under a hundred bucks it is absolutely perfect. I've never been disappointed by a Pfleuger President Spinning reel, and this Baitcaster is no different.

I upgraded to this reel from an Abu Garcia Black Max, and I’m very pleased with it. The overall build quality is very nice, the cork grips feel really good (especially when they get a little wet), and the casting ease/distance is really good.I put my equipment through some pretty heavy abuse through hiking to fishing spots, climbing all along rocks, etc. Whenever I start to feel like this reel is going to get all jacked up from sand or rocks in the worm gear, I just set it down for a bit, maybe rinse it off with some water, and it’s good to go.If you’re looking for a well-made, inexpensive baitcaster then look no further. My only regret is that it doesn’t come in a left hand retrieve model, so hopefully at one point they start making that.

Last February after reading reviews and thinking the price was reasonable for a light duty trolling, catfishing and bass reel, bought one at $75. I do a lot of bank fishing for bass on a little lake with tons of reeds, grass and cattails. They get tall enough I can't see over them in some areas so it is cast and feel for the bite. You are constantly fighting snags, tangles and birds nests and have to use 40 to 60# test with hollow plastic baits. We call it combat fishing. But the payoff is sometimes 40 or 50 bass in 4 to 6 hours from the bank. It is hard on lures, lines and brutal on reels. In the past we wore out 2 Black Max and another cheap baitcaster. My Revo SX is down for repairs due to that combat zone. The other key piece to fishing there is a long casting rod and reel. At the price I was skeptical to say the least. I also bought a Diawa Tatula on sale for almost double the Pflueger this spring. Hands down this reel outcasts the Diawa and my old Black Max reels on the same rods. What is even better is the birds nests. Not that I haven't bird nested this one bad enough to have to cut the line off, but that was only once when my cast caught a tree in bad wind. It even bird nests less than my Revo when properly set for wind and lure weights. Not sure about durability yet as it is only the middle of the season. Also I do not use drag on the reels out there. Just lock down the drag as tight as possible because you are reeling thru a ton of moss and reeds. You barely know you have a fish on when you get them to the bank. What I am saying is this reel is holding up to that, casting long and is reasonably smooth. Buying a second one for walleye this fall. Based on performance so far it will be a great jigging and trolling reel for them. It is not a Revo SX but it sure beats the Diawa Tatula in my opinion. The Diawa is much harder to tune, doesn't cast as far and bird nests much easier. I would take it back if I could but it was a store closeout item. People may love the Diawa and it is certainly smoother and nicer feel but when fishing most of us want performance and it isn't what the Pflueger is for sure.

Exactly what I have come to expect of every Pflueger reel I own. Smooth and long casting and retrieval is just as smooth. Slick drag with bigger fish and works as well as the higher dollar reels. Bought on sale, which makes it even better. Would definitely recommend.

I bought two of these Pflueger President XT baitcasting reels, one for my 12 yr old son and one for me (our birthday presents). We used them for 7-days straight, fishing in Northern Minnesota and they performed flawlessly. My son had never used a bait caster and he was able to dial in the settings within a few casts (just followed the directions that came with the reel). Both of us had a few backlashes but only when we were trying to see how far we could cast our lures. We caught a lot of fish including several 3-4 lb bass and northern pike, these reels handled them without a hitch. I would absolutely recommend this product to a beginner or intermediate fisherman wanting a decent baitcasting reel at an affordable price.

Names marcus, if u don't own one u need to. Launches baits, looks great, feels great, reels great... Starter or pros should be using this reel. Yeah, it only has 12lb drag... But wgaf... Awesome for the price and u get... !!QUALITY!! Isn't that what we all want? VERY UNDER-RATED. ITS A MUST HAVE....

Excelente articulo, al principio me costo un poco de trabajo encontrar el punto exacto del clush, pero una vez que lo encontré jala excelente, super suave y realmente lo recomiendo, le ajusta el clush dependiendo del peso del currican o lombriz y listo. Lo recomiendo para la lobina, y para un pescador ya algo experimentado, no es bueno para principiantes.

The reel is great, and it didn't take much time to dial in. Never get backlashes and it's very light weight. I haven't had the opportunity to test the drag on bigger fish, but so far it's held up well with 3-4 lb Bass, which was the main reason for this purchase. All in all, It's a smooth casting, cheap baitcaster that's extremely forgiving even when whipping out heavier baits. for $100 it can't be beat, and I would recommend it to any beginner caster, or someone that's looking for a spare reel in their kit.
