Zinc oxide is a classic sun-protecting mineral but the stuff can cost quite a bit when buying natrual sunscreens on the market. This powder makes it easy for me to DIY for my family who has chemical sunscreen allergies.PROS:+ Fine, Even Powder: When stored well-sealed, this stuff has no lumps, making it easy to mix with our sunscreen base or just with a lotion to make our own DIY sunscreen. It mixes evenly and well with a whisk and spatula. Like all other zinc oxides, it can create a whitish tint on the skin if added in larger amounts--find what works for you! We have been making our own sunscreen lotions and lip balms. The gind of the mineral is very fine, much like flour and is very smooth without large pieces or chunks.+ Opaque, Tight Bag: This bag keeps our zinc fresh and seals well as long as I'm mindful of scooping away from the seal. The mylar opaque design keeps light out and prevents ingredient oxidation. It also can seal tight once I press the air out.CONS:- Fine Powder: Not much a con but a warning. This powder is fine and can form a cloud or get onto everything and anything if not careful. To keep from breathing it in, I wear a cloth mask when working with it and do my crafting outdoors or in a well-ventilated place like my garage. The powder can settle into capeting and clothing, yet easily washes out. The same goes for our finished sunscreen products. Whiteness on clothes come out with ease with water, unless we use an oil-based carrier cream.

I purchased this bag of zinc oxide to experiment with making some of my own skincare products. I like knowing what’s in products that I use. It feels like it’s getting to the point where it’s just best to try to limit ingredients when possible.This zinc oxide is easy to use. Considering I’m using it for doing some experimenting with facial creams and hand balms. It’s been easy to work with and I feel like the ingredients are pure.

Seems to work as described.

I like to having zinc handy for my skin. I see the necessity for wearing a mask and gloves and not doing this indoors. That said you can mix up what you need so none of it is wasted. The price seems reasonable in my opinion.

We use this to mix with a little healing balm or vasaline for our young kids diaper rashes. It's much more comfortable on their skin than the mass produced options even our older kid doesn't throw a fit when they need to use it from not wipes as well as they should have on their own.
