Excellent Introdution for Beginners
The basics--and some of the more advanced elements of project planning, too--can be found in these pages. All the major acronyms are defined and explained. When you've finished the book, you'll know the benefits and problems associated wit the various planning methods. Some are more linear, others more agile, and so on. The author also explores the issues raised by having diverse stakeholders coming from different corporate environments and geographical areas, which will be helpful in today's global workplace.

A lot of good information but the how is not there
I'm completely new to project management. A clueless newbie. After reading the reviews and seeing how high the book was rated I was very excited about reading this book. Sadly it did not fulfill my hopes of learning project management. There is a lot of knowledge in this book about what project managing is but very little information on how to actually do it. If you want knowledge and information it's a very good book. If you want to learn how to manage projects and how to plan a project and execute it, I believe you will be disappointed.

This book takes some of the best concepts in project management and puts them into a single resource. It includes advice on software and team workflows that make the challenge of project management more likely to be successful. It also covers soft skills like emotional intelligence. It's a useful resource.

It's a great book for beginners and equally good as a reference for current practitioners on what they may be missing or have overlooked on their own projects.
