A Mixed Bag
This radio delivers excellent audio sounds, with tones that enhance both talk and music. The radio is reminiscent of the classic tabletop radios from the 1950s-1960s in my opinion, and has an easy well-integrated carrying grip. The power options are simple, either use a standard cord that is supplied with the radio, or it operates using 3 D size batteries.Despite the nice retro vibe, I'm not a fan of the interface. The tuning dial is hard to read or nearly invisible, especially since the radio is white. The indicators, though bold and black could be a barrier to you if you have poor vision. Even with my eyes and wearing glasses, I still could see the dial clear, but I found choosing stations a bit cumbersome.Another issue, I have with the analog dial, is it sweeps across bands too quickly, making it almost impossible to get a precise adjustment. I appreciate the nostalgia, but not at the expense of usability. In terms of the quality of the build, the plastic enclosure feels underwhelming. I wouldn't call it cheap, but the overall fit and finish the radio doesn't inspire long-term confidence and suggests limited durability. The shortwave reception was practically nonexistent in my area, but the FM reception was modest at best, adequate, but lacking in sensitivity and station separation that falls within my earlier comment of getting a precise station. The included antenna is short and could be longer and a bit more robust to the radio’s size. Surprisingly, AM was the strongest performer, delivering good reception.Overall, this radio feels like a halfway effort. It sounds great and looks charming, but falls short in some key areas like tuning ease, accessibility, and reception range. I think it might work well as a casual kitchen radio, but I wouldn’t recommend it for serious or daily listening, especially if user-friendliness is something of a priority.

Good Radio For The Price
I now have radios in almost every room, as this one is being used in the living room. This is actually a pretty good radio. It projects sound well and sounds full, not flat and monotone and not overly hissy or bass-y. I do wish there was a tone control of some sort, but overall the sound is fairly well-balanced. There is a bit of fizziness on the top end but nothing too intrusive. Surprisingly, the bass response is better than I expected but I only notice it when playing more modern music (like R&B, funk, alt rock - newer songs with better production than, say, 70's music). The radio is easy to operate - there is a volume control that also functions as an on / off switch. Build quality is good and the radio has some heft to it without being heavy. This radio can only be powered by an AC cord or by 3 "D" batteries which you will have to supply yourself. NOTE: The AC cord comes packed in the battery compartment. It took me a few minutes to figure that out. As far as reception goes, it is more than decent and I notice that the dial picks up stations that I have not heard before, which is a plus. However, on the other hand I have also noticed that there is some static on some stations, even the bigger stations. That could be an issue of where the radio is situated in my living room; I will have to experiment with that. Also moving the antenna does help. Overall this is a good radio for the price. The features are basic which is fine for my purposes. I have not tried the shortwave stations, but one of these days I will test them out and see what's there.

NICE OLD STYLE RADIO
This inexpensive radio is a decent build and works pretty well. I like the big simple to use old time features. It looks good and is very lightweight. The sound is good for a portable radio but it's not a boombox of course and wasn't meant to be.Controls are easy to use and AM and FM modes function rather well. I have tried and tried to get SW and can't find anything yet. That would be a fun feature since I'm an amateur radio operator. This will be a good radio to keep around for emergencies so that you could tune in to the local channels and see what's going on. It's also easier to operate for many people then the digital type radios.Pretty good job on a reasonably priced portable radio. Bring along a handful of D cell batteries for on the go.

no frills radio, that works/sounds good
A No frills radio that works well. I like the white color and makes a nice kitchen radio.Reception on this radio is as good as any other portable am/fm/sw set i have used. The tuning mechanismis old school, big knob, with very poor frequency read out. A couple turns and you are from one endof the band to the other, making it very difficult to fine tune in a station.. This is not totally a negative thingas I find it fun not knowing what frequency your are on , and finding stations to listen to..audio quality is very good, with good size speaker, and plenty of volume.. I like that it can be powered from the AC line, or 3 d cells..many people may prefer to have a radio, with digital read out, memories, rechargeable built in batteries.this is not that radio.
