Is this expensive? Sure, compared to some of the other offerings on Amazon.But let me tell you, man is it worth it.First off the weight. I did not put it on a scale but it's got to weigh at least 3 pounds. This points to heavy duty construction and typically means a tougher metal (like steel) was used in the base. Not only does this mean the product will last a lifetime, but it also makes hole punching easier because now the base won't slide around as much.The cut itself is sharp and crisp. I tested a piece of printer paper for you to see a picture. There was no sliding around and the cutter went through very easily. So far I've used this hole punch with about 10-12 sheets of paper and had no issues whatsoever.There's also a handy metal clip that keeps the handle pressed down when this item isn't in use. Good for safety or making it smaller so it fits in a desk drawer somewhere.Overall this product is really nice. It did cost more than other hole punches, but I think given the construction quality it'll last longer too. Not to mention it's easier to use and punches great. 5/5 stars!

Although rated for 45 sheets, I think the actual capacity is about 20 pages. This replaced a 10-year old hole punch from a different vendor. The old hole punch started to jam and stick, and needed replacement. After much research on these things, I chose this model and agree with other reviewers that about 20 pages are the safest to punch through at a time.I chose this model because it has a fixed edge against which to line the paper. This ensures that all the holes match in a large stack of sheets. I often have to punch through about 600 pages at a time to place in a 3-ring binder, and punching through this stack at 20 pages at a time is fast and easy. No jams so far. I also appreciate the window on the tray at the bottom which catches the chips. The tray opens easily and empties easily without the mess of all the caught chips falling all over the floor. Wish I had upgraded to this product earlier!It is very sturdy and look forward to using it for the next 10 years. This is an office-geeks product delight. I keep it upright on my desk for easy access, but it has a lock on each side which allows the punch to be folded in one wants to store it in a more compact form.

As high school English teacher, this is the hole-punch I should have purchased from the beginning! Over the last three years I have purchased four (4!) different units costing about $25-$30 each. I never wanted to purchase this kind because of the cost. It just seemed excessive - but I was oh so wrong. The previous units would break within a few months (jammed or broke) - typically when used by students or other teachers. This unit is jam-resistant, can punch "up to forty sheets" at a time. It has a convenient and large slide out drawer to help alleviate the "snowstorm" that used to happen when I tried to empty my punched holes through a small opening in other models.Worth every penny.

I am an attorney. I organize my files in binders. This binder has four advantages that make it stand out above all others.One, it punches holes very close to the edge. This is important because it reduces the risk that a hole would punch through text on the document.Two, unlike many other 3-hole punches, its pistons do not move laterally. This is also important because it eliminates the risk that the pages would not fit into a standard 3-ring binder.Three, it punches significantly more sheets per pass than many other 3-hole punches.And four, it has an immovable page guard. This is again important because it ensures that all the pages will be punches consistently and eliminates the risk that some of the pages would not align in the binders.This is the best 3-hole punch out there hands-down. Highly recommend it to any professional that organizes documents in standard 3-ring binders.

This product is heavy duty! I bought it for my store which we do alot of paper work & it can cut through 25 pages easily. 30 not so much you have to really put some muscle into it. But aside from that it's very great though since I bought it.. maybe 4 or 5 months ago the little metal handle that keeps the paper in place at the bottom did become loose and falls down. It's not a big issue but you do have to keep it up with some tape easy fix but again great product!!

I hemmed and hawed a little before purchasing this, given the relatively higher price, but after years of frustration with cheap punchers I went for it. It has not disappointed. Unlike the cheapos, neither the punchers or the guide bar move. This is crucial for getting the holes in the right spot. How much time did I waste either with miss-punches or delicately making sure each thing was in its right spot and not moving before making a punch? I had one initial concern, which was the breakability of the plastic pullout tray. Ideally this part would be made of metal as well. So far it's not been an issue. The puncher just sits on the counter. I recommend as a tool that actually does the job!

If you’re using a hole punch often or for an office setting or like us, a Montessori preschool, this is a MUST!It’s well-made, heavy and it works every time without jamming!!! We love ours.

This is exactly what we needed in my office. Regular office punchers only do about 15 pages before getting stuck. This bad boy can punch quite a lot with very little effort. It's very heavy-duty, made of all metal (except for the collection container). The collection container is fantastic, it keeps all those little paper punches well contained and if we move the punch from one area to another, I don't have to keep it level to keep the punched pieces from falling all over the floor.Mechanism for punching is very smooth and I don't have to worry about fiddling with the guides. The guides on this do NOT move and are setup for three hole punching all the time, which works perfectly for my office. I am sure this punch will be around for a very long time and I won't have to buy another! Definite recommend on this product if you do a lot of punching, specifically if you frequently punch more than 15-20 pages at a time.

The media could not be loaded. 6 years and thousands of punches in, it still works like new. Been used in a classroom and at home and still operates smoothly!
