Great Z-Wave Lock when combined with Home Assistane
I was searching and searching for a smart lock that did not require the use of any 3rd party apps and/or clouds. I also wanted it to be able to use fingerprints, keypad and as a backup, a physical key.I settled on Z-Wave for the communication and Home Assistant for the self hosted Smart Home Controlling software. I purchased a HomeSeer SmartStick G8 USB Z-Wave interface and added it to my Home Assistant machine. As this tech is all new to me, I did have a couple hiccups in the beginning. Once I understood the pairing process, this lock paired easily with Home Assistant using the S2 security.I did need to use the Yale App to put the Lock into pairing mode and to add fingerprints. But once that is done, the app is not needed. I am able to manage lock codes in Home Assistant. I am also able to see whose fingerprint was used to unlock the lock.Overall I am very pleased with the purchase.

Not compatible door lock
The Yale smart lock does not work with Ring Alarm system even though it states in the product information that it is compatible. I spent two hours with a ring tech-support trying to connect the lock to the Ring Alarm and it kept giving me error message.

Significant error in installation manual - do not use 1.5" face bore
I've installed this lock this week, and in terms of appearance, build quality, and function I'm so far very satisfied. However I feel the need to share a WARNING - the instruction manual indicates that the lock will work with a face bore (hole diameter for the lockset) of either 1-1/2" or 2-1/8" inches. It will NOT work with the 1-1/2" hole - the deadbolt cylinder itself is too long by about 1/4" inch, regardless of what backset configuration you've selected. See the pictures I've attached with the deadbolt and the installation template for the 1-1/2" face bore. BOTTOM LINE - if your door already has a 1-1/2" diameter face bore hole, don't buy this lock; if you need to drill a hole make it 2-1/8". In some cases you can make it work with the smaller hole if you can drill an extra deep edge bore for the deadbolt cylinder. I couldn't do that because every tool I could find for doing that (spade bits with a leading drill point) would have broken through a recessed door panel, and tools that wouldn't do that (Forstner bits) were too short to drill deep enough. I ended up using a jigsaw to enlarge the face bore just where needed to accommodate the extra length of the deadbolt. Note that Yale technical support confirmed these constraints and the incorrect instructions in the manual.Note to explain pictures - one picture shows the deadbolt configured for 2-3/8" backset (you can read the numbers stamped in the center section of the cylinder). The bolt extends to the right past the dashed lines of the corresponding face bore circle. The other picture is in the 2-3/4" backset and the cylinder extends past the solid line face bore circle.

Incredibly easy to set up!!
We originally bought another brand like this lock and had such issues we returned it & got this Yale lock. It was only different to install due to our door, but setting up was so simple! It’s been so easy to use. Will be buying this brand from now on.

The worst setup experience I have ever had
Save yourself a huge pain and go with another brand.
