simple, no bells and whistles, but IT WORKS!!
I waited a year to write this review. We have a 60 acre property in a rural area. We got a kitten who was obsessed with being outside and it was tough to find her at night time when the coyotes, owls, foxes, etc. come out. We got this collar because it was not as bulky as the fancier collars and because we have no wifi or cell service on most of our property. After a year, I can say that this thing is amazing. While you do have to walk around a bit to pick up a signal (if your cat wanders like ours), once you pick one up it is pretty easy to follow it to your cat. I can usually find our cat in less than 5 minutes. On the rare occasions that she wanders further than usual, when I'm starting to question whether the collar works as I can't find a signal, I push her usual roaming area on foot and, sure enough, I find her in some far flung location that is off her beaten path. I bought the two pack. I have changed the batteries once in the remote that picks up the signal, and I have switched from the first signal sending collar to the second. I have not tried to change the batteries in the actual thing sending the signal on the collar. I'm not sure if that's possible (feel free to tell me what I need and what to do, if you know). But to be honest, I would buy more collar signalers from the company even if those batteries cannot be changed. It works that well. I have not used the fancier kinds which have a map on a screen but I honestly couldn't see the reason to buy that more expensive option when this works so well. Once you use it for a while, you begin to discover your cat's regular routine and it becomes even quicker to find him/her. I have been meaning to rave about this for a while and finally remembered to do it. I highly recommend this.

Small price for peace of mind
My boyfriend and I got this for our kitten when she was about 4 months old. Our house has a doggy door so it’s inevitable she gets outside. We just wanted peace of a mind and a way to keep track of her around the neighborhood. We didn’t want to pay for a subscription though, so we figured the RF tracker would be the best.We put one on her collar and then one on her harness incase she slipped the collar. They’re a little heavy and weigh the collar down a little, but it doesn’t seem to bother her after a few weeks. The remote detects about 2 or 3 houses away. It’s super easy to use with the sound and lights. When you use the remote to track, the tracker on the collar beeps as well. We even trained her to return to us when using the remote. When she hears the beep she returns to you. When she doesn’t return at a certain time for meals, I go out looking for her with the remote. Usually she comes to me, but one time she got stuck in a backyard and couldn’t get out, but because of the tracker I was able to find her and help.In the year we have had these trackers, we’ve only replaced the batteries once, about a month or so ago. Not a bad cost for always being able to find my cat.

Slightly beats out Girafus tracker, could be better.
We used the Girafus tracker for many, many years until the tracker finally died. Switched to this one.Pros:* Battery life. I can't emphasize how nice this is. With the Girafus we were constantly charging and replacing batteries, seemed like every 2 weeks it needed it. You don't want a lost cat and a dead battery. Here the battery lasts a long time.* It has both a direction mode and a distance mode. So many times the Girafus would bounce off walls and you would get false readings. This one does a much better job getting you close. I used to spend some evenings with the Girafus looking for 30 minutes in false leads trying to narrow it down.Cons:* Larger collar unit. I'd rather it dangle underneath like a license or a bell. This one tries to fit snug to the collar itself, but the cats do get a bit annoyed that it's in their way.* The cat's unit will beep always on search mode. If I'm looking for my cat at night outside, I don't want a beeping cat waking neighbors. Cats also get wise if their thing beeps and try to hide from you.* Not as far of a distance. This thing only goes into "green" if you are just a few feet away, and by then it's not really needed. This is where Girafus would shine, if the cat was several houses away I could still get a weak signal. For this one the signal isn't as good.

Works great and even trained my cats to come when the locator tone is heard.
This is an awesome tool for safeguarding cats that roam outdoors. I use it all the time to locate my cats, and it works wonderfully. The only drawback I've had is there is one cat who just won't leave the collar on. I guess there will always be that one! The other two accept it completely, and have even learned to come to me as soon as they hear the locator tone. I highly recommend this product.

I’d give these 6 stars if I could!
I’d give it 6 stars if I could! I had Apple AirTags on my cats collars originally and they were worthless. These collars have been great! If either of them go out of sight we can easily find them with the remote. It’s worked to locate one of them a few doors down chasing after squirrels as well.. so the range is great. They are small and compact and don’t affect their movement either. Highly recommend.

Great product
This product is outstanding. We have a 1 year old Himalayan that enjoys outdoors but we won’t let him be out for hours at a time. We let him outside and give him like 20 minutes with the tracker on his collar . When we search the tracker easily picks up his general direction and from there we can easily find him wherever he is. He also now responds to the tone that is emitted on his collar - but he is a cat so sometime he doesn’t. We found this product to be better than expected and the customer service outstanding - we and Jinx give it a 10 out of 10 or 2 paws up
