A great film to watch and full of exciting bits to see, really enjoyable

As some have mentioned, this is not a cerebral experience but I am unsure why anyone watching any Mission Impossible film would ever expect that it would be. This is an action thriller, dumb and brash and extremely unlikely. It is a work of escapist fiction where the audience must suspend their disbelief a little to invest in an over-the-top international espionage and terrorism plot played out by characters who are a little 'extra' human. It is a comic book film of sorts. And it is a very good one. It's fun. One of the main reasons why this works better than the other films in the series is Cruise's portrayal. He is reined in by the director (and, I believe, by himself) in order to give the supporting cast space to act. He is still the 'hero' or main protagonist, there are no illusions about that, but he is far more likeable and grounded in this instalment. And he even has an interesting back story that ties in with Jeremy Renner's (the new Bourne!) character rather splendidly. The plot is ridiculous and the set pieces wholly implausible but they are certainly staged with aplomb and extract much suspense from the situations, as well as even some startling twists. The scenes in Dubai where Hunt has to scale the Burj Khalifa are stunningly silly but palm-sweatingly good. Onwards to Mumbai and then back to Seattle, they certainly rack up a few stamps on their ghost passports. And it is fun to see the team working without back-up and the least amount of gizmos to aid them. The denouement where the new team disband with new missions and the Hunt sub-plot comes to a sad but fitting resolution is a perfect way to both move on and leave the possibility of sequels open. Highly recommended for action film junkies. Art house lovers need not apply - but they already know that.

This is one of the best films with Ton Cruise in...I love it!

So we have another MI installment from Mr Cruise. Cool gadgets... check, Geeky side kick .... check, action scenes involving moving vehicles... check. Eye candy... check. We are all systems go. The story is good, I am not going to write spoiler along plots etc. Acting is alright, this isn't a movie where you will walk away and talk incessantly about. It's an action movie and it meets all the requirements. The transfer is good and the HD is really good. HD sound was amazing. So get your friends around on a Saturday night, put the Home Theatre Amp at 10 and sit back and enjoy.

As I didn't know what this fourth outing was about I watched it with an open mind. I had been told by my son that it wasn't as good as the others. However, I sat down one evening and enjoyed it as much as the other MI's. Ethan Hunt as usual is as we have come to expect him to do in situations of having a go at getting out of a sticky situation good at his job and gets it done. It's how it's done with all the razzmatazz and explosive action that keeps you watching. Like the others I will watch it again and again over the next few years. Even though you know that things will be done for the good in the end it is all about the action to get there that keeps you watching from start to finish. As with a good book a film has to catch you at the begining and reel you in until the end. It's like being on a rollercoaster throughout the whole film to keep you watching.

Well Like most other people I have had a love hate relationship with the mission Impossible films. I loved the 1st one, thought the 2nd one was ok, in places, but had a bad bad plot and some bad stunts. I liked the 3rd one for its return to the same style as the 1st one. For the 4th one I have to say I loved it. Having Simon Pegg in it changed the way the story worked and having a more fun side to it, like the 3rd one made the film. I loved the stunts and for me, made the film nice and easy to watch. This type of film is not going to change your way of life, make you go and do something for a charity, question the the meaning of man kind or how the world was made. It a film to take you away for a couple of hours to relax and enjoy. Take it for this and you like it, but thinking it change your life then you will hate it. So I have given it 2 thumbs up (5 stars).

This is by far the best out of all the MI movies. It's (dare I say) much more realistic than the others. You can actually see Ethan Hunt struggle to get through these mini-missions to complete his goal. Gone is the cocky near-super-human Tom Cruise, to a more "this is proving tough" Tom Cruise. There's a bit more personality in this Ethan Hunt. Simon Pegg adds a nice bit of humour in to the movie. Similar to his role in Star Trek - being 'the funny nerd'. It's pure fast action all the way. Some edge of your seat bits wondering how will he get himself outta this one. Loads of great action scenes. They went down the good oul' reliable Russian-baddie route as usual. Bit Cliche, but who cares. It's well worth a watch. As for the Blu-Ray experience, yeah, it's not bad. Some visually good scenes in Dubai. The Kremlin part too. The 7.1 Dolby Digital sound is a mess though. It seems someone just set all the sound to "all channels" and left it at that. I've got 5.1 surround sound AV receiver, and found myself having to adjust my amp to get a decent balance in the channels for some kind of surround experience. I've just heard better and clearer movies I suppose.

Ghost Protocol is one of the best action movies of all time & It's thrilling to see Tom Cruise pull off some of the best stunt works especially on the Burj Khalifa. I m a huge MI fanboy. The movie brims with scenes that are exciting and amazing at the same time; they're brought off with such casual aplomb that they're funny, too. ... Ghost Protocol is fast and explosive, but it's also a supremely clever sleight-of-hand thriller. Brad Bird, the animation wizard, ... showing an animator's miraculously precise use of visual space, has a playful, screw-tightening ingenuity all his own. The bluray has only one disc & I got it in the lightning deal.

Tom Cruise is a great movie star. There. I said it. After some thirty years in this business and about twenty-five of those years spent as a bona-fide star, he can still make it work. No matter what you may think of him personally, there is an effortless charm that he brings to almost all of his films. Lately, though, it's been a bit of a slog. With films like KNIGHT AND DAY, VALKYRIE and LIONS FOR LAMBS (Remember that film? Yeah, me neither), he hasn't been packing them in like he used to. Even M-I:3 was considered something of a failure, despite doing over $350 million worldwide. But that's Hollywood for ya: You jump on Oprah's couch and you claim that psychology is a scam, and people look at you differently, even when you're acting. I've loved Cruise's work for decades (except when he's in REALLY lousy films, like COCKTAIL or THE FIRM or VANILLA SKY), and I've admired him when he took risks (like MAGNOLIA and COLLATERAL, even if I don't care for those films). When I heard that he had gotten Brad Bird, the director of Pixar classics THE INCREDIBLES and RATATOUILLE and my favorite hand-drawn English animated film of all time, THE IRON GIANT, I was VERY excited. This is obviously someone who knows extremely creative storytelling, and really knows how to construct a scene. But it was also his first live-action film. But with Simon Pegg returning, and new additions like Jeremy Renner, Tom Wilkinson, and Josh Holloway (despite the latter two had nothing more than cameos, really), and with working again with J.J. Abrams who helped revitalize the series with the third film, I still had high hopes. Then the reviews started pouring in. WOW. People were LOVING this film. And by all accounts, they were exactly right to. The film is ear-to-ear grinning and wall-to-wall action. Not the pensive De Palma action of the first film, and not John Woo M:I-2 mega-ultra gunplay action, and not uncomfortably realistic J.J. Abrams action; but like a snowball rolling down a hill, once it starts, it just gets bigger and bigger and then you find yourself at the bottom of that hill and you await the bliss of the impact. Bird lays the hyper-dynamic (and dare I say cartoonish) set pieces piled one on top of another like the most delicious action-adventure cake you've tasted in years. The haters can keep hating on Cruise, but he really makes this film pop just as much as Bird does. His breezy wit and afore-mentioned effortless charm flow during some of the film, but he gets down to business in a big way. One complaint I keep seeing of this film is how unrealistic it is. Guess what? IT'S MISSION &#*%^@& IMPOSSIBLE!! If it were MISSION: POSSIBLE, then I could accept that criticism. This is not HILL STREET BLUES; It's MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. It's not supposed to be realistic at all times. This is by far the best of the M:I series, and I hope that Bird and Cruise team up again soon, because that would be another mission I would absolutely choose to accept.
