Nintendo Black SP Console (GBA)

In way better condition than I expected having bought a few of these online with similar condition description. This is the best condition internally and externally. Looks fabulous and works like a charm. Very grateful for this. Highly recommend!

Got this as a present for my son some years back and it still works perfectly. It is a little battered and bruised from use but despite how it looks its still usable, so clearly well made by nintendo

First of all, you may be put off by the prospect of buying a used GBA Sp in 2015 - and with good reason. Handheld consoles such as this tend to be accidentally dropped or scratched or otherwise damaged, to the point that many GBA Sp's now look as though they have been fed to a dog. Thus, you probably wouldn't really want to touch one, let alone carry one around in your pocket (unless you're into that sort of thing). This is exactly what can be seen here on Amazon, with many units described or indeed pictured as being scratched. So if you plan on buying one (or two, or three... I'm not really bothered), I advise you to take the time to request pictures of the GBA from the seller - specifically the screen. If you request pictures of the screen and you receive back only an image of the case - as one seller did to me - it's quite likely they are hiding the screen from you deliberately. I managed to obtain a pretty much perfect unit, so of course there is no reason why you can't either. Secondly, the unit itself. It seem a little unfair to review the hardware in this day and age, especially after we have been exposed to things like the 3DS and smartphones. Things that are worth pointing out though are that it requires a special adapter in order to plug headphones in, and that many old units at have rechargeable batteries that are past their best, so you may need to shell out extra. Finally, some positive things to justify my 4 stars. It is extremely portable - you can walk around quite happily with it in your pocket without it feeling as though you are transporting a brick, and most of the games available for it are not only great fun, but also relatively cheap. Metroid Zero Mission, for example, is an absolutely brilliant action adventure game exclusive to this console. Overall, I'm very pleased that I bought a GBA Sp, and I will undoubtably be playing it for a long time, (well, at least until I feed it to my dog).

The SP console arrived promptly and was in excellent physical condition, however the rechargeable battery did not hold charge well. Since separately purchasing a new battery, the product has been excellent.

Be careful when buying these, mine was admittedly only 10 quid, but it didn't work at all. The screen in particular was shot, i was expecting the basic system to work at least. I had a new battery and outer casing for it, because at ten quid i was expecting the body to be rough, but beware. I'd recommend spending at least 20 quid or more on one of these. Mine said acceptable condition, it certainly wasn't.

This is a fab console. Excellent for gamers who like a blast from the past with retro games. My son loves it and would recommend this to any gamer who loves the old classics from Nintendo.

My DD1 is a retro fan and her collection includes a Smith Corona typewriter and a dial telephone. So it was not too great a surprise when the main thing she wanted for Christmas was a classic Nintendo console. DS - Not Played. Vita - Not Played. 3DS - Not Played.

Ok, so the gameboys were a bit before my time, and I grew up playing the wii and the ds, but I am greatly impressed with this product. I mainly got this to play the Mother/Earthbound series, since I don’t own a PC to play those games on. I bought from the seller called the Terry Bean Store, my item shipped in a day, and the overall product was in extremely good condition when I got it. I expected some minor scratches and stuff, as noted, but for only paying approximately $60 for this, it was in extremely good condition. It works well so far(model ags 001), and is a lot better than I expected considering the price. I know buying used handheld consoles like the gameboys can be hit or miss(depending on the seller), but this seller seems pretty legit. Also it came a week early! ***also: mine came with a charger(also noted in description of product), and I don’t know if this is normal, but the charger had trouble staying in, but still worked efficiently. I will update this review when I have had this product a little longer. UPDATE: I have had this for a couple months now, and it is GREAT! I ended up replacing the shell and screen to make it brighter, but it would’ve been just fine the way it was. It still charges and does everything good. If you plan on replacing the screen to a brighter one please note that the battery life goes down a bit, but it’s not too bad. Still a really good product and holds up great.
