Got this XBox 360 E console for £150 secondhand and my daughter adores it as a gaming addition to her old Nintendo Wii console.
This limited edition 500GB Blue/Sky Blue twin tone XBox 360 was introduced in September 2014, so it's a good buy second-hand as it can't be more than just over a year old as I write. The original XBox 360 games console goes back to 2005, the year before the Sony Playstation 3 [PS3] came out. The Xbox 360 S design (also referred to as the "Slim") replaced the original XBox 360 models in 2010 (with a redesigned motherboard to alleviate the hardware and overheating problems experienced by prior models and adding in a proprietary port for use with the Kinect sensor). This 2014 Blue Limited Edition is based on the Xbox 360 E released in 2013, which was a further streamlined variation of the 360 Slim, adding a two-tone rectangular case inspired by the Xbox One - it loses one USB slot (now having two front and two back USB ports) and there's no optical audio out any more compared to earlier 360 Slim. It has an HDMI video/audio out socket for the TV, plus a rear network cable port and Wi-Fi for the likes of NetFlix and XBox Live. This XBox 360 E has a 500GB internal hard drive fitted, and you can add an additional external hard drive or USB data stick up to 2TB in size via a USB2 port for saving both games and media. My 21 year old daughter is a Nintendo Wii fan as she loves her GameCube games and controllers which are fully Wii compatible, but the new Nintendo Wii U doesn't work with Gamecube hardware and so wasn't an upgrade option. My daughter uses the Official Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows PCs on her Windows 7 and 8.1 STEAM gaming laptops and, like her 19 year old brother, she prefers them to the Playstation 3 style controllers (although my son does have a Sony PS3 & PS2 console and a Windows 7 desktop gaming PC with another couple of Official Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers for Windows PCs ). The XBox 360 supports up to four controllers wirelessly and another two via USB cable .Anyway my daughter fancied the old XBox 360 over the new XBox One, as she likes the XBox 360's Fable I, II & III, SIMS 3, SIMS 3 Pets, Dragon Age, Hitman, L.A. Noire and the Final Fantasy games. Plus she adores racing games like Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing , Blur , DIRT and the Forza series. And importantly the old XBox 360 games are now generally really cheap both second hand and new - plus if you want true 100% XBox 360 compatibility, an old 360 console is still the way to go. We got our second-hand Xbox 360 500GB Limited Edition Blue Console for £151 direct from Zoverstocks (musicMagpie) and it arrived very promptly within 2 days - I've always found Zoverstock's after sales support fantastic for faulty or incorrect 2nd hand movie DVDs and audio CDs should I get problems, so I had no worries buying direct from them). The console was well packed and works & looks pretty much 'as new'. My daughter and I both like the Light Blue/Blue two tone console and my daughter has hidden the matching two-tone blue controller from her brother as she (and he) loves it so much. And it's great that all our Official Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers for Windows PCs work perfectly directly wirelessly linked to the XBox 360 (you don't need to use the PC's USB WiFi dongle with the XBox 360 console). For a similar cost to an XBox One we have the limited edition Blue XBox 360 and thirty great XBox 360 games, plus we bought a £30 secondhand white XBox 360 Kinect bar from eBay that works fine (my daughter hates black in console and tablet world). Only problem with the Kinect motion sensing bar is that it needs more space than her bedroom can provide, so the XBox 360 relocates to the lounge when using it. So 5* for this second-hand 2014 Xbox 360 500GB Limited Edition Blue Console as my daughter loves it - we wouldn't want a 4GB version as we have more GBs loaded in music files already on this XBox's 500GB hard drive. The 360s screen quality on our 32" Samsung SmartTV is similar to a PS3 and better than the Wii, and it has HDMI video output which makes life easier (HDMI cable wasn't supplied). Only major downside was no 'Little Big Planet' games as that's a Sony Playstation exclusive. We found our standard PC USB2 wired keyboards also work fine for the XBox 360 text input via its USB socket (apparently wireless USB dongle PC keyboards also work OK as well). As the new larger Xbox One has an identical case design it will look good next to this XBox 360 E, if & when you decide to upgrade (you'll need the new XBox One controllers and Kinect though). To prevent overheating the XBox 360 E when it's running, be careful not to cover the large top right airvent, as it's easy to drop a game case over it without thinking.
