game changer
Bought this on Friday to fix to my elderly mums wheelchair mainly so I could take her to a local steam fair as pushing the chair across grass is usually hard work. I read previous reviews and decided to take a punt as the fair was Saturday. I fitted it in 10mins although I put the clamps more centrally under the chair - between both 'X' frames on our foldable model. This keeps the chair stable when no ones in it and keeps the powered wheel well out of the way of your feet when walking behind - both issues previous purchasers have raised. I found the simplicity and smooth power of it remarkable and for the money, its well worth the spend, you just press the lever and steer occasionally. I rotated a brake lever 90° to make room for the units operating lever and the speed dial allows you to set the speed to what you need - easily more than 3mph others have stated but you can slow it down so don't be put off, its quite a range!its has a forward and back switch so lovely and simple too.Removing the powered wheel can be done and without tools as you have to do this to fold up your chair, We have a wheelchair adapted car so it isn't an issue for us. You can lift the powered wheel clear of the floor using the coloured strap they supply and that works well, its just a decent weight so if the 'carer' has limited lifting capability, bear this in mind. All in all, I'm very pleased with the unit

Makes taking my partner out alot less tiresome.
Used this for 1st time today. Would highly recommend. Alot less stress pushing wheelchair now. Only 1 thing it sticks out at feet but reading someone's reviw will attach further under chair. Was easy to assemble and manoeuvre when out shopping. Worth every penny.

Useless
The power of this motor is unbelievably little so we had to walk slower than we normally would and then it jiggled itself off the supporting rails while out with a frail old person. If I hadn’t taken tools to adjust it we would have been stranded with an unmovable chair. Depending on your wheelchair it interferes with the step of the person pushing. It might work better on different chairs but this was a huge waste of money.

Very useful addition to a wheel chair
I am super impressed with this unit.It seems well designed for the most part and works very well. We have used it quite a few times and across many different terrains. We installed it on "Elite Care Voyager All Terrain Outdoor Folding Self Propel Wheelchair" although it is worth noting it would need removed if we wanted to fold the chair. There are a couple of feed back points for the maker though.1. I would be very interested in a unit that has a Lithium (LiFePo4) battery to try and reduce weight of the battery. The Lead acid battery might be heavy for some older users. It would also probably increase range although I have not experienced the limit of range yet. It would also potentially allow the battery to to be relocated into a storage pouch at the back of the chair as opposed to on the unit itself (which would probably allow it to be installed on more chairs) - although I understand the weight of the battery is used to increase traction for the motor.2. The brackets that fit on to the chair itself can move even when tightened. I will probably add a threaded bar to mine that will run through the centre of the pole and fix everything tightly together.Overall it is a great unit and we love it. The points above are minor at best and won't matter to everyone - just my own observations

Good overall but with minor flaws
Have been using this on my father's wheelchair for a few months. Overall its a really good addition to help push the chair making it easier for longer distances and up slopes. I havnt had the battery run out yet which is great. The wheelchair we have is similar to the one in the picture and we attached in in a similar location which has two flaws: 1 it makes the chair unstable when someone is not sitting in it (ie, it it could tip backward). 2 it makes it almost impossible to walk behind the chair - your feet keep hitting the motor! So I moved it to further forward closer to the centre of the chair which has improved both these issues (although im not sure if that is recommended by the manufacturer). If your wheelchair has brakes in the handgrip, it makes the trigger handset of this difficult to attach - although we managed to put it at an angle. The main reason im not giving it a higher rating is because i find it quite slow. I know the speed is described here as 3mph (I havnt measured the actual speed) but i find that it is basically a slow walking/strolling pace - Its even slower if there is a slight ascent in the path. I found that i take it off the motor to cross a road in order to go a little faster for instance. Another minor issue is that there is a small delay in its response. You push the leaver (or let go of the leaver to stop) and there is a small, but noticeable, second before anything happens. This is particularly annoying if you suddenly need to stop when someone walks in front of the chair for instance. As others have mentioned, its not possible to fold the chair while its attached, but taking it off isnt too difficult and doesnt need tools.Overall, for the price, I believe it is worth it. You could pay a lot more for other brands or designs while this does do the job.

Solid piece of kit!
I do wish I’d ordered this two years ago. This device is very well made , a good , sold piece of kit. Easy to assemble but made sure it was tightened and secured before use. It is simple to use and amazing on smooth flat surfaces and also good on other surfaces . It is certainly beneficial for inclines / ramps . :) very well priced too.

Good piece of kit
Easy to fit. Takes a lot of effort out of pushing the wheelchair

Good for small hills
It works very well, but wasn't powerful enough for my hills
