smell almost exactly like mothballs.
I honestly can't say whether or not these 36 Pack Mice Repellent - Peppermint Oil Rat Repellent Balls work. The scent is not of peppermint. It reminds me of the scent of mothballs which is OK, but it is a VERY strong scent. I tossed 6 of these under the part of my house the mice always seem to come into the house from in the hopes of keeping the mice out of the house, but I can't say for sure whether they work or not. I haven't seen any mice, but I don't know if that's this stuff working or if the mice just have decided not to invade the house this year. It's been almost a month and I can still smell the mothball scent of these, and, to be honest, if I'd wanted my house to smell of mothballs, I would've just gotten mothballs, which I know work to repel mice, but since mothballs are toxic, and I wanted something that wasn't, I got these in the hopes they didn't smell like mothballs and would still repel the mice, but all I smell is mothballs. I'll keep using them until the box is empty, but I doubt I will buy more since they smell so strongly like mothballs and I was hoping for something that didn't smell like mothballs.

Rodent repellent
Smells like pure mothballs.. which I don't like. I could of bought at Walmart for cheaper. Was expecting the minty smells which I don't mind. Disappointed I can't use in my house.

Expensive Green Moth Balls
It claims to be peppermint oil of 1.5% under product specifications. The actual product on the box shows 0.15% peppermint, that's 10x less peppermint than advertised. Doesn't really smell like peppermint at all. Do yourself a favor and just get moth balls and save some $'s. I will be returning these and get some peppermint oil extract instead. I can't stand the smell of moth balls!

Definitely smells
I have a vole problem on my property. I've had good luck with putting these down any new vole holes that show up. I put one down the hole, fill in the hole, and I don't seem to have problems in that area after that for a whileI don't think these would work well long term in an open space. I put one outside for about 6 weeks and while it still smells strong if I put it near my face, it's nowhere near the potency it had fresh out of the bagAs others have pointed out, they don't smell particularly strongly of peppermint. It's something else that I find repulsive and gives me a headache if I get too strong a whiff. Really hope they're not disguised moth balls. Moth balls are toxic

Strong smell and seems to work!
I’ve had two cars trashed by leaving them sit and having mice live and die in them. The stink lasted for months and months. I also have problems with animals in the attic and snakes in the house. I’m tired of the whole situation.I’ve used some peppermint packets—small ones with a small scent—which seem to work but I’m not sure. I wanted something much stronger. These Peppermint Oil Rat Repellent Balls are strong! Very very strong. I’m impressed with the strength of these rat repellent balls. These balls are really a good tool for dealing with the pesky critters.

Maybe somewhat effective but not a huge change.
We have had some mice visit our storage shed in the backyard and I thought I would throw some of these out there to see if they helped. They come individually wrapped so you don't have to use them all at once and they seem to have a bit of a peppermint smell along with something I am not familiar with. I did not hang these because I don't have a way to hang them but I did place them around the interior edge of the storage shed. They've been out there for a couple of weeks now and I do still ssee some evidence of mice but maybe not wow as much? I don't know if I needed to throw the whole box around or it didn't put them in exactly the right places? I'm sure there's not a foolproof way to handle it and I'm hopeful while that these will start doing their job.
