for Dodge Ram 1500 2009 2010 2011 2012 2014 2015 2016 2017 Black Tailgate Backup Reverse Handle with Camera

This was installed on a 2017 ram 1500 st quad cab, The handle seems sturdy and its hidden which is what I wanted, not going to get hit like the licence plate ones might, I got a module from best buy to allow me to view it on my factory radio which costed $200 and they installed the back up cam for me too but they said installation was really easy. I thought the lines might be not centered from other pictures I viewed but they are actually pretty close to being center, idk If that's because my screen is so small I cant really notice or not but I'm pretty pleased with it. Picture quality is good but not like hd or anything like that but I dont need to see in 1080p backing up anyway and that could also be from my factory radio, if a better quality reciever displayed in better resolution it might look better but it does the job backing up to a trailer, I tried backing into a space using just the lines and I'm within the lines pretty close both sides. Night vision is pretty good too actually with the reverse lights on it lights up pretty well so you can see, the last pic is taken at about 10pm in my driveway. In the first few pictures in the day I'm about 3 feet away from the fence just at the end of the green, yellow is about a foot and a half. As soon as I got it I went to go line up to my trailer and it's dead on acurate, first time got it hooked up no problems. The only down side to using the factory radio is that it is small, lining up to a trailer I have to lean over and look close to see where I'm at so it's not like you can just sit normal and back up to it easily, it's not an issue with the product and it saves me from getting out 3 times trying to get the hitch on the ball lol.Backing into a parking spot or into your driveway is a different story tho, you can see just fine sitting normal and with the guide lines it makes it easy to see when to stop.I feel like the price is fair and it looks good. If anyone is hooking it up to a 2017 ram 1500 something cool I found out was if you hold the left arrow button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds it will trigger the back up cam so you can see while your driving or in park which I really like.

Tried to get some good pics. The wires melted from the block that the wires are spliced into for the plug. I had 12 volts from my reverse lights for a trailer. 09 and up Rams don't have 12 volts going to reverse lights. They have 9 volts. My old camera was connected the same way and I never had a problem. Replaced it with this camera cause my tailgate latch was very stiff and I was afraid it was going to break right when I needed it.This camera is awesome. No lines so long as you have a good ground and the picture on my alpine stereo was very nice. This thing worked one time long enough for me to test it and make sure it was good and also reverse the picture. Went to the service station and started to back up when the cam came on the went off. Figured I lost connection behind the radio so pulled it back out and it was good. Went to the back and found the wires melted. Took the tailgate apart to make sure I didn't ground it with the screws for the panel. All good.I should have listened to the reviews. I will go a different direction now after I take my interior apart again. 😑

I thought this might be one of those purchases where I shake my head and wonder why I even try. But, This was a perfect fit, and it looks original. The wire came encased in a protective wrap and I was able to install it with fairly easy. In the end, it works great. I've had back up cameras for so long that I missed it when I bought a low-end pickup that didn't have it. Now it does and I am a happy camper.

Works good. Looks factory. Instructions are written by a 3 year old. YouTube a few aftermarket rear camera installs and you’ll be on your way. The lines seem a little goofy or not angled right but hard to tell. Minus 1 star for those reasons.

Pros: The wiring harness was more than long enough (I bought a different one from another company and that one was about 6' too short). The harness comes with protective loom installed. The picture quality is very good and light adjusting from dark to direct sunlight is fairly quick. Don't know if this has night vision, we'll have to see.Cons: None so far. Picture is stable.It took about an hour to route and zip-tie the harness on and through the truck to the stereo head unit. Once everything was installed it fired right up and worked well.Install notes: I powered it using the red pigtail wire near the RCA plug at the radio end by tapping into the same red wire that powers the aftermarket radio (Not the backup bulb). I did use the black ground wire at the camera end for ground. The red wire at the camera end I just cut short and taped up so it didn't come into contact with any metal.

The handle itself is an easy install and seems sturdy. For installation I used the reverse wire on my 7 pin trailer connector (center ping white/orange) and the grounded the black wire to metal. Behind the radio I connected red to the stereo's reverse trigger and then plugged in the yellow RCA plug. Works good though the display flickers a little, not sure if its something I did. Cable length is good.

Installed the product...Took a bit of time to run the cables through my 2018 Ram. Got it all connected and only the backup lines show up...Can’t see a thing from the camera. Asked for suggestions on how to get the camera to work but on got Crickets as a response. Great price but still not worth it if the camera won’t show you what’s behind you.
