Great product, lousy packaging
While all glassware is doomed to eventually break, I believe it is still customary for it to arrive intact, thus reserving for customers the pleasure of shattering their own glassware at their leisure. In my specific instance, 2 of the 10 plates arrived broken, since a single layer of crepe paper and two feeble layers of cardboard serve more as a touching act of faith than as a practical means of packaging fragile scientific equipment. Clearly, the employees of Amazon and UPS share my low opinion regarding this state of affairs and made a concrete demonstration of their dismay, thus producing trenchant metaphors regarding the folly of misplaced faith and the frailty of all the works of man. While I am gratified by the inadvertent and unexpected memento mori which have enriched my dreary life, I cannot help but wonder if the twin causes of simplicity and customer satisfaction wouldn't have been better served by spending a tiny bit more money on packaging, or even applying simple labels marked "Fragile: Glass" to the relevant and necessary surfaces. The further irony of the situation is that I now must spend time and money shipping broken glassware back to Amazon, presumably for the purpose of proving to the seller that the dishes are indeed broken, and perhaps allowing UPS and Amazon further opportunities to serve as agents of metaphor and fate, thus enriching their lives and enlarging their duties beyond those required of simple warehousers and couriers. After thousands of miles of travel and vast clouds of CO2 emissions, those broken dishes will ultimately be thrown into Amazon's trash bins, carefully and perfectly negating my decision to purchase glass petri dishes because of their relatively reduced environmental impact.Clearly, logic does not pertain in this scenario, but if it did, it would seem simplest for everyone involved for me to just send Amazon a photo of the broken dishes, for them to send me two replacement dishes - lovingly swaddled in sufficient and suitable packaging - and allow me to discard the broken dishes myself.A young packaging engineer might also benefit from the lesson that I have learned, that cramming thin glass dishes together nose to tail with absolutely no padding between them is an absolute enticement to compression fractures along the fragile edges of the dishes, leaving the dish portion of the petri dish shattered while leaving the cover intact. Putting the damned box of petri dishes in the middle of the shipping box, adequately padded by packing material and more durable goods, rather than stuffing it into the corner of the shipping box with no padding whatsoever, would also save a lot of grief.

Nice glasswear, but I notice a trend
First, the pro. The order is a great price, and the dishes come as expected and are exactly what I needed. Now the con. Like a number of others in the reviews, when I received the dishes, two were broken right out of the box. Specifically, the ones on the ends. I'm not bothered by this because even 7 dishes were a fair price. But packaging is not as good as it should be. If you receive all nine undamaged, you are lucky.

Awesome Petri Dishes!
I recevied two that were cracked/broken but they quickly sent me two replacements. Works for what I need them for. Thanks.
