It is a basketball made from a dense sponge so it has some weight and bounce to it. It bounces fine on hard wood, not quite as much as a regular basketball but good enough to practice dribbling indoors. To my surprise, it bounces decently well on carpet too.The main reason you would buy this is for the quieter sound and vibration. You still hear a ‘puff’ sound when dribbling but it is significantly quieter than a regular basketball. Also, it is softer on the floor so you don’t have to worry about ruining your flooring or pounding on your downstairs neighbor.What it is not for is outdoor use. You will tear it apart easily. So will a dog. Water will probably ruin it too as it is a sponge. I would not use it for shooting practice either.So if you are limited in practice space and want to practice dribbling indoors when the weather outside prevents you, using this will keep other members of the household happier than listening to a real ball. They might not even notice it if you were a couple rooms away. I would probably buy it again if I didn’t have one so definitely recommend.

Talk about quiet. This basketball is exactly as described. My son dribbles around the house constantly and doesn’t bother anyone. The ball bounces and plays very similar to a traditional basketball. Why did you pick this product vs others?:It has the perfect size and weight, offers a great bounce, and is quiet enough for indoor play. My son and I are both really pleased with it.

The foam basketball does not bounce. To get the ball to bounce at even 70% height you have to use a substantial amount of force with each dribble. It is not like playing with a regular basketball at that point, it is legitimately like throwing a ball full force at the ground every time for it to even make it back to your palm.And when you are using that much force on the ball just to make it bounce poorly, physics dictates that unless there’s been a breakthrough in new materials with magical sound properties, there is going to cause an equally forceful sound. Basically when it bounces as high as a basketball, it was making close to or as much noise as a regular basketball.If you are looking for a replacement for a basketball that dribbles softly, this is not the product for you.If you want a rough foam ball that has no coating and a paint job to look like a basketball, this is the product for you.

The quality is top-notch. My boys use it every day, and because it’s completely silent, it keeps the basketball noise under control and my peace of mind intact

It is pretty quiet. And it still has a decent bounce. But one time it got swished and now it is wearing out. After that it didn’t feel quite as good. Only had it for one month. But other than that it is a nice product, but probably only worth $30 though 7.5 out of 10

I tried multiple options for a good indoor foam basketball. This is hands down the best one. Whereas the others get delivered shrink wrapped with the promise that they will take the proper shape after a couple of days (they don’t), this one comes fully formed in a large box. The ball bounces true as a result. Can’t speak to the durability yet, but the fact that it bounces properly already makes it better than the others I’ve tested .

Perfect for indoor practice. We live on the 2nd floor so our awesome neighbors thanked us for my boys gift lol. It's as close to silent as you can get.
