Q: what is the max head?

Shuttoff head is 55'. Max operating head is 45'

Q: I have a 32" height capacity in a 14" round plastic pipe and a 3" discharge pipe. I'm replacing a torpedo T7500 (120v). Suggestions?

This pump would be a good replacement for the style pump you currently have. You will want to make sure the flow rate matches your liking. The pump you have in should be 7,500 gph. The 8PN will have a flow rate of 5,500 gph. Thank you!

Q: where is the speed control located?

This pump does not have a speed control. It operates at full speed all the time. The only way to lower the flow is to install a ball valve and throttle the pump.

Q: Can this be installed in a skimmer? What would be the minimum size for the skimmer for proper operation?

I have used 2 of these pumps over the years. They move a lot of water. I don't think a skimmer would hold enough water to function. You would have to calculate how much water in the entire system. i have a 20ft rise and the pump is in a 400 gallon well and it pulls half the water out (very quickly to fill the system. Before it start circulating.
