This wooden stand beats the usual metal frame type of stand by a long way, in terms of looks. It is a simple, sleek and elegant design, made of nice quality wood, and looks quite stunning contrasting with a shiny brass saxophone sitting on top of it. It is easy enough to assemble, though the arm was such a tight fit into the base, that I had to use quite a bit of force to get it to engage fully into its slot. The hidden screws are strong and secure, similarly the brackets to support the instrument are well-made and sturdy.It does have certain disadvantages compared to the usual metal type of stand, it's not foldable, so therefore not as portable, but more importantly I don't think it is quite as stable. My tenor sax fits very securely in the brackets, I don't think there is much chance of it just slipping out, but the base has a smaller footprint than the typical metal stand, and I would say that while there is no chance of it getting knocked over backwards, and very little chance sideways, there is a slight chance of it getting knocked over forwards, owing to the position of the arm relative to the base.However, it looks great, I would say it's ideal for a display piece around the home, but I probably wouldn't take it out and use it if playing my sax in another place.

Very light but hold my saxophone without issues. The price was a bit higher than competitors but worth it!
