Great pen
This is my first platinum fountain pen. I ordered before reading the Amazon reviews bc other sites had this pen as a top 10 edc fountain pen. And it writes really good. I'm still learning to find that sweet spot but when I do it just glides across the paper so smoothly. Thankfully and yes I mean thankfully the cartridges were not stepped on as it was shipped in an envelope. So a preppy pen with 5 cartridges can't beat the price. Very pleased.

Great budget bundle
Fantastic bundle for the price! I've been curious about fountain pens for a while and have read good things about the Preppy. It certainly didn't disappoint. The pen punches above its price point and makes me excited to try more fountain pens. This blue black ink is a little darker/desaturated than I expected, but the color is still solid.

Great Fountain Pen!
Writes great even when scribbling notes at high speed. Does not leak at all. The blue black ink looks great. I have just about emptied my first cartridge and have no complaints. Even ordered a second one for home use.

Great for beginners
Worked wonderfully, easy set up and nice writing, I've kept it on its head for like a month straight and it's had 0 leakage

Nice cheap pen that performs!
The media could not be loaded. Great addition to my little fountain pen collection. It’s a great bargain and great for every day use!

In so many ways, light...
I am reviewing a Platinum Preppy 03 Fountain Pen, blue. All plastic construction (except stainless steel nib, natch), blue-tinged polystyrene, I believe. Lightweight (13 g with cartridge), excellent proportions (albeit a bit short for my hand), and somewhat slippery to the touch. Writing is generally enjoyable, with a bit of scratch on low-quality paper. The line is extremely fine (remember, 03 nib) and a bit on the lighter side with their supplied Platinum blue-black ink. Think more of a technical pen than one for poetry; I envision it for notes, not emotive writing.[Four-month update] A major problem with the Preppy - it is quite fragile. The plastic they use for its construction (polystyrene?) is rather thin and prone to crack if any force is applied. This problem has been described before for its cap, but it can also happen with the barrel, especially when changing cartridges. I have dropped my review one star because of this intrinsic weakness. One remedy - the Preppy parts are interchangeable with the Platinum Plaisir, a metal-cased pen. So, you can recover any Preppy parts by using them in a Plaisir. Bottom line - if you are as careless as I am, you may want to consider the Plaisir instead of the Preppy. Almost as light, writes the same, but the Plaisir will be around in four months, while the Preppy may not.

WORST PEN!
Had to play with it a bit and space the point a bit more than I wanted but it didn't damage it and it works.
