bump stops cleared about 5/8" A little bigger than stock tire /285 /70 /17 With torsion bars options seem to be a little limited
05 sivarado ext cab Z71 Z hieght slightly over stock I.E. bump stops cleared about 5/8" A little bigger than stock tire /285 /70 /17 With torsion bars options seem to be a little limited as per ride quality but I believe these shocks do help They strike a nice balance between firmness of the truck and smoothness I find the difference to be they allow the suspension to react and move quicker and farther than the stock shocks which could be thought of as soft but they do not allow any excessive movement. I have been searching for a balance between good street ride and heavy duty durability, with some balancing experiments on tire pressure, load and trailer duty I find these to be a really good shock and well worth the price I did have to slide the boots down the shock quite a ways to relieve the crinkle but after 2 months multiple duty Yea well worth the time and money

Very nice shocks
I replaced the front shocks on my 2004 Avalanche with these Bilstein shocks. Super easy and better hardware that the previous shocks. So far ride is way better and they look cool.

Outstanding value for leveled/lifted trucks
These are just awesome. The shock comes with hardware and pre-mounted boots, all you need to do is bolt it through the lower control arm, then push down to compress it from above and line it up with the top shock mount. Very easy. I put these on my 05 Tahoe with a 3" front leveling kit, and the extension of these allowed me to ditch the shock extender bracket. The truck feels so much better. The dampening on these is exceptional.

Great Set of Shocks at a Good Price. Just Extend the Protector Boot a Little.
These shocks went in without a problem on my 99' Z71 Silverado. The only minor issue seems that the shock boot is set a little too high up on the shock and stays compressed too much. I would recommend snipping off the zip tie holding the bottom edge of the boot and sliding it down the shock tube a bit to lengthen it. Then zip tie it back. Otherwise perfect. The ride handling on the front end is way improved. I noticed a huge difference in corning, bumps and stops. Great set of shocks at a good price.

Outstanding shock with superior comfort
I purchased these for a 2004 Chevy Avalanche Z71. The install went smoothly and both sides were finished within an hour with the correct tools. Mine is not lifted, so I did need to cut the zip ties off the boots and move them down a couple inches. Otherwise, it causes the protective boots to bunch up at the top. Only took 30 seconds and two new zip ties to fix this.Once on the vehicle, these shocks provided a vast improvement over the stock parts. Unavoidable potholes no longer create a sense of dread. The ride quality is smooth and reassuring.Upon initial inspection, it was easy to see the high-end construction and materials used. The shocks also come with additional decals should you want to change the appearance a bit.

Overall good shock, but starts to squeak after about a month of use.
OK, I'm not new to Bilstein shocks. Both my Chevy's had two sets of Bilstein shocks so far. Putting in the second set of Bilstein 5100's into my Suburban I noticed after about a month these shocks started to squeak and it's not a little squeak either. I thought it was another part in the suspension like the other linkages. I first decided to replace one of the new shocks with another new Bilstein 5100 and again after a month it started to squeak again. I tried spraying all the pivots and rubber joints with WD40 and the noise was still there. I decided to slip the boot of the Bilstein shock up and spray WD40 on the shaft that slids into the shock body and the noise went away. It's been a week so far and no noise. Has Bilstein made any changes or gone with cheaper seals? Three shocks and they all squeak after a little while. Your guess is as good as mine. Other then that the shock works great.

Perfect for my lift leveled Avalanche!
These shocks exceed expectations in every way. After I "cranked" the stock torsion keys up to their limits to level my 2005 Avalache 2wd, the stock height shocks I had on the vehicle did not have enough height to allow the front suspension to move through its full range of motion; causing a very choppy ride over bumps and off camber parts of roads when the now too short shocks were working against the torsion bars. These Bilsteins solved that problem, and then some! My truck corners flatter, dips the nose less under braking, and rides smoother than it ever did with any brand of shock I've had on before."(AC Delco, Gaberial, Monroe).Even if you haven't lifted your vehicle, Bilstein rates these for vehicles ranging from stock height up to 3 inches of lift, so don't sweat it. Just buy these shocks if you want a comfortable ride from your truck again. One thing to note, these shocks with my coil sprung rear end seem to squat slightly more and dip more over the rough stuff when towing. If you're maxing out your tow rating regularly you might want a heavier duty option.
