Writing AI Prompts For Dummies 1st Edition

Great book and it came in just a few days!

Very informative.

It’s more about explaining what AI is and the different kinds of AI out there. Some prompting instructions but a bit lacking…it was a some section of the book. Still a foundation for learning what AI is all about…so the title of the book is a bit “off” IMO.

Let me start with the good. It is a good general introduction to AI and possible uses. If you are looking to this book to help you craft better prompts, then you will be woefully dissatisfied. There is really a single chapter on prompting. The book also doesn't cover different types of prompts (i.e., text to image, text.to video, text.to.text, etc.). I just wanted more. Normally, I love Dummies books, this one just misses the mark.

I know this is for people like me who aren't very smart, but overall, they're really good.

I have not purchased a "For Dummies" book in quite some time, thus I cannot compare with others unless going back at least ten years. The quality of the published product has really gone down. Sub quality cover, almost newsprint weight pages, and the images are difficult to make out. The images in this book are mostly on-screen images as examples. The print quality is so poor, that reading what is in the image is next to impossible. I've not read he content, as this review is just after opening delivery.

For a book entitled "Writing AI Prompts for Dummies" I would have expected more information on writing prompts. Or coding in an app to enable prompting to gather information. But it reads like a book selling the capabilities of AI. And form an editor's point of view, feels like Ai might have written a lot of this book. There's a lot of repetition that hasn't been edited out, and a lot of generic content.If you don't know much about generate Ai and the apps that are available with it, it will be helpful. But if you are looking for nitty gritty information, this isn't the book.I'm glad I got it from the library instead of paying money for it.
