Tastes good with or without added sweetener
I didn't think I would like this raw cacao mix without adding any sweetener to it, and I didn't at first. The first sip struck me as "flat" - but then I took another few sips and the flavor grew on me. I began to enjoy it exactly as it was, and the cinnamon in it reminded me of Mexican chocolate. I found myself thinking "hey, this is good"! Then I added a splash of honey to the hot cocoa I'd made with it to taste the difference and I enjoyed that as well. Add honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar if you prefer it sweet, or try it without added sweetener. I think it's good either way, but you do you.I discovered that it clumps up if you add it to a hot liquid, so I suggest adding it to a cold liquid first and then whisking to get it to blend. It takes a bit of patience to get it to come together, but it doesn't clump as badly as it does when added to a hot liquid. If you're making hot chocolate like I did, just microwave or heat it up in a small saucepan after whisking it together and it will be smooth. If you're making a smoothie just add it into the cool liquid and let the blender bring it together.I like the health benefits of the clean organic ingredients in this mixture, and I like that it comes in a resealable bag. It's a bit on the expensive side for my taste, but the 6.35 oz bag has a two year shelf life and has enough to make 30 8-ounce servings.

Have to Experiment But Worth the Effort
I'm crazy for chocolate! Who isn't? But I'm also committed to consuming clean ingredients. For those reasons, I was super excited to order this Cocoa Crave Mix promising a blend of superfoods and no sugar (or substitute sweeteners). While I'm all for that in theory, it was a jolt to taste the delicious-smelling powder and realize it's not sweet at all, similar to a baker's chocolate bar. The directions say to mix two or three teaspoons into your favorite hot or cold drink. First, I tried two spoonfuls in a mug of coffee and found that it was way too much, adding excessive powder that clumped and ruined my drink. So I spilled that out and started over with a fresh pot of coffee. This time, I added just one level teaspoon of mix to the grounds in my drip coffeemaker, then brewed. While not what the Nature's Harvest directions said to do, this strategy worked out great! This coffee doesn't have a distinctly mocha taste, but it might if I add more powder for the next pot. This round, the Cocoa Crave Mix definitely enhanced the coffee with a mellow new flavor all its own. It's really good. I look forward to experimenting more with this product.

Can be used similarly to unsweetened cacao/cocoa but different flavor
That's a terrible heading, but I don't know how else to say it. The best I can say is that it's a deeper flavor than cocoa if that's even meaningful. I get the bitterness and some of the flavor of cocoa, but I don't really get some of the other flavors, especially the vanilla and cinnamon. I think I'm tasting a lot of carob from the descriptions I read of the flavor, but I'm not familiar with it myself to say for sure. I think this would work for most anything you would want cacao for, the taste would just be a bit different. I prefer the flavor of cacao, but I would consider this healthier. Overall, I would buy this as an occasional substitute for cocoa. One thing I have to note is that, apart from the vanilla, I can get a pound of any of these ingredients as organic products for quite a bit less than 7 oz of this costs. Personally, I would be more likely to buy them and make my own mixture in the future rather than buying this. While this is good and I have n o complaints about it, I would go with the lower cost option.

Smug, but high quality
This is basically just cocoa powder with a little cinnamon, vanilla, and a couple other things thrown in so you can feel smug, superior, and overly caffeinated. That notwithstanding, it's a quality product. It makes recommendations about how to use it, putting it in hot or cold liquids. Milk isn't mentioned, because I'm quite sure drinking actually cow's milk is, ugh, so 20th century. But that's how I'm having it. And, as a fatty, I'm adding...(grimace)...sugar...to it to make it into standard low-brow hot chocolate. Oh, the humanity! A little goes a long way, but this mix is actually very tasty. Now, would I shell out what it says up there if I had not gotten this for nothing to try? Um, nope. But it does taste good, which is what I'm being asked.

Tastes healthy
I like to add hot cocoa powder to my coffee to get a mocha thing going on. I tried this with the 3 teaspoons as suggested, but it was too much. It was overpowering, kind of bitter, and just not enjoyable to drink. I've scaled back to just using 1 teaspoon in my mug, and that's better, but it still has that undeniably "healthy" taste.Adding some sweetener is helpful and gives it a more balanced flavor that actually makes for a tasty beverage, but I feel like I've canceled out all the healthy stuff if I have to add sugar, so I'm not sure that I'm coming out ahead. This is a product that feels like it's better as a hidden ingredient in baked goods or smoothies. The price is steep for gussied up hot cocoa mix, but it has a long shelf life and a resealable package, so at least I know it won't go bad before I can use it up.

I'll stick with plan cocoa
I don't really taste the cinnamon or vanilla in this and there is an aftertaste I am guessing is the maca that I find unpleasant. I can enjoy plan cocoa unsweetened but even sweetening this did not improve it for me.

Takes my daily cocoa serving to another level.
I've been using cocoa on a daily basis for about fifteen years. A heaping tablespoon goes in my first of the morning mug of coffee, which also contains cinnamon, pepper, plant protein powder, and vanilla soy milk. When I saw this Cocoa Crave Mix, I thought it would be an excellent switch from my regular big brand cocoa. I was right. On its own, this makes a nice hot beverage. Mixed in with my other ingredients, it gives the start to my day a new level of goodness. Always nice to try something new and have turn out great. This falls into that category. Very nice.
