Was recommended my my sons flute tutor. My daughter and I have the alto saxophone version.Fantastic book and learning program. Explains well and at a gradual pace, though some wording is a little advance for my 8 year old which is why I've scored it 4 out 5. The layout is well done and perfect starter book when used along side and with lessons.Would recommend to others.

Excellent bought for my 9 year old daughter as a starter flute book, she's following it & learning the notes/finger positions no problem.

I played flute many years ago and decided to pick it up again. I thought having an accompanying CD would be most useful. The Amazon blurb describes it as "demonstration and backing track". From that you might expect to hear the piece you are trying to play. There is little, if any, flute to be heard on this CD i.e. no "demonstration". What you get is a (pretty decent) backing track and you have to work out when to come in. the tracks are also in "real" time i.e how you would listen and play to them as an experienced player. There's a lot to be said for this approach, but it would be extremely intimidating for beginners.Beginners, consider this as your SECOND book. There's lots of good stuff here.
