pathetic editing/translation
This book may have been translated by a computer. It is full of jumbled sentence structure and bad editing.The stories themselves are interesting, good reads. It is a shame that readers cant easily enjoy Ango's intriguing convoluted plots reflecting Meiji era themes .His word play and references to previous historical figures and incidents which enhance the plots are lost . A few enlightening footnotes, along with better grammar would make this an enjoyable (not tedious) read.
