Unpalatable
This makes a strange yoghurt. Up to now I’ve been using a small pot of natural yoghurt (Yeo Valley) to make my Greek yoghurt, but I thought this starter might give an even more authentic result, since the bacteria strains are more similar to Total Greek yoghurt. The yoghurt straight out of the maker (I use my Instant Pot) looked better; it’s always fairly lumpy until after straining usually, whereas this was very smooth and silky. I strained it as usual, for 8 hours. Usually the resulting yoghurt is very very dense, almost cheeselike, and utterly delicious, so creamy and rich (I use full fat milk, nothing else). But with this starter, the yoghurt was strangely viscous, more the gloopy quality of extra thick double cream than Greek yoghurt. And almost completely flavourless. It had a slick mouthfeel that I found very unpalatable. And none of the rich creaminess. I’m going back to using natural yoghurt. The bacteria may not be the same strains as Greek yoghurt usually is, but the resulting yoghurt is much more identical in texture, and much better in flavour.

Didn’t work for me
Maybe I did something wrong but the culture didn’t work for me. I also tried yoghurt with active cultures and I still wasn’t able to make yoghurt so in all fairness it’s probably down to me.

Yoghourt starter culture
Two of the six sachets have failed. Did not experience this with a previous supplier. 3 sachets left.

Amazing
I only used one Sachet and keep making from that batch of yogurt I’ve made and it still has the same amazing taste as the first batch I made

Makes excellent diary yogurt
I was hoping this would make good non-dairy milk yogurt but unfortunately I only had success with soya milk. So I gave up and my husband used them to make dairy yogurt. He says it has made the best yogurt he has ever tasted. He re-uses the yogurt to make the next batch and is now on batch 10 with no loss of quality. This makes it a very economical way of making excellent yogurt.

Works super well.
I'm on my sixth straight batch from the first packet. I make mine in the Instant Pot. This tastes much lovelier and healthier than store-bought yoghurt, and it makes me happy to know precisely what's in it.
