Congo (BABEL)

After reading the prize-winning L'ordre du jour I was expecting something more exciting than this poorly written, poorly constructed and unimaginative pot-boiler, from the recipient of the Prix Goncourt, whose prize-winning book is indeed captivating. It could be, however, that for those readers who know next to nothing about the Leopoldian Congo Free State Vuillard's narrative has the merit of narrative originality if nothing else.
