A mesmerizing overview of the world as it was when glaciers covered the earth and long-extinct creatures like the woolly mammoths and saber-toothed cats battled to survive. Go back 20,000 years ago to a time of much colder global temperatures when glaciers and extensive sheets of ice covered much of our planet. As these sheets traveled, they caused enormous changes in the Earth's landscape and climate, leading to the evolution of creatures such as giant armadillos, saber-toothed cats, and woolly mammoths as well as club-wielding Neanderthals and later the cleverer modern humans. Nico Medina re-creates this harsh ancient world in a vivid and easy-to-read narrative. Review: Was a child's smart gift choice. - I was not familiar with this series but a child at a local school asked for a "who was" or "what was" book as part of a Christmas child in need project at a local elementary school. The fact that a child wanted one of these books, something to read and learn from, impressed me, as did the content and engaging illustrations when I read them myself. Of course, desertcart had them and I bought a bunch for this youngster whom I wish I could hug and thank for likely growing up to make the world a smarter and better place. Review: A great read that Integrates reading & social studies - this is a great read for students to learn about Ice Age animals. Used it with 4th and 5th grade students.

Every one of these small, informative, books make for educational gifts. . . after you've read them!
I've got twelve of these so far. I bought the one about NIXON, and ten other pieces of history. A friend wanted the Obama book, and the Obama postcards as well. We are BOTH happy with our stuff! Highly recommended.

Ice Age relived.
This book I bought for my granddaughter who needed it for a school project. It outlined the sequence from the onset of the Ice-age till the final thawing of the Earths surface about 15,000 years ago. Much of the Earths surface continue to show signs of this event of twenty centuries ago.A most interesting little book, ideal for young teenagers to adults.

Appropriate for age 11+
The blurb led me to believe it was age appropriate for my 5yr old, the cover led me to believe it was full of colour images. Neither was the the case.
