From a practical and presentation standpoint, this platter looks great. The top is flat and very very smooth. The bottom is unglazed so it's a little unpleasant to handle, but that's mostly only for the host to worry about. In thinking about why they didn't glaze the bottom, it occurred to me that it looks like they glued the feet on after the firing, so I bothered to check the feet. It turns out the feet are a little asymmetric. It's not so bad in a way that you can easily tell when it's in use. It's just another thing for the host to worry about.

I would not call this a serving tray you could use to carry items around, to me this is more of a presentational tray, where you can display small appetizers, finger foods, pastries and more. So, I think this is a great base for seasonal decor or for the bathroom as a perfume display. It is ceramic and partially glazed, meaning the upper part is glazed and bottom is unglazed. The feet are cute and make whatever you have put on the tray stand out more. The white color is not very icy bright, but just an average white tone. The golden trim is barely noticeable, and in fact I wish it weren't even there, but since it is so small it is ok. I like this tray and already have many uses for it.
