very handy adapter
Works as expected. My home was 'pre-wired' and had standard jacks in rooms. I started out with a traditional landline then added telephone service to my CATV and needed a way to send that dial-tone throughout the house. I changed out a couple jacks to double RJ jacks, but in other places this device allows me to split out the two voice circuits from one jack. In my situation I just ran a 'line cord' from my CATV modem output to a line 2 jack in that room and I had that DT on every line 2 jack in the house. (IMPORTANT: make sure line 2 wire in the telephone 'NID' is NOT connected to any wire toward the central office or it could damage the CATV modem.) You could hardwire it, but I didn't go that far b/c this works fine. The adapter you'll get is marked for: line 1, line 2, line 1+2. This makes it easy to choose what line jack you want to use. Very pleased with this, especially for the price I paid. I bought four. BTW, those giving this one star probably thought they were buying something else. This does not provide three line one outputs from one line one input. It splits the two lines already in your jack (pins L2-L1-L1-L2) so you can plug in a single line phone or other device to line one or line two...or a two line phone to one of the three jacks.

fine
I will have trouble writing much about this thing. The item is as described and we have had no trouble with it.

Simple, works as you’d expect, no frills.
If you have phone line wiring that carries two lines in one cable (with four contacts connected in the plug, two for each line) this is perfect for splitting the two lines so you can connect to either line with the common two-contact phone cables that are overwhelmingly more commonly available. L1 and L2 split the two lines so they can be used with the simpler two-contact cable to a phone or modem, and the L1+L2 plug is just a pass-through that lets you plug in a four-contact phone cable that carries two lines at once.

Good product, very good price
These telephone line connectors seemed to be difficult to get. Radio Shack used to carry them, but had none. Our local store was willing to order them for me for something like $12 each. I couldn't do that, so I ordered them from Amazon as a "ride along" item after my order went over $25. The price was quite reasonable and the product seems to work exactly as described. These are for a two-line setup where one outlet receptacle has only line 1 coming out, one has only line 2 coming out, and the third has line 1 and line 2 coming out. This allows you to plug in a FAX machine or phone that receives calls only from line 1 or 2, and still have the third for a two-line phone or an answering machine that is capable of answering two lines.
