Bought this for my 8 year old son's Christmas present. Big Hit! As its designed for 9-12 he needed a little assistance from Dad, with following the plans over the intricate parts, but other than that it is well designed, and he loves playing with it once built. Detail fantastic and plenty of scope for different play ideas. He can't wait to try other models in this set.

Purchased for my son for his sixth birthday. The age range is specified as 9 to 12 years but he is very good at following the Lego instructions so we purchased this anyway.The models produced are fantastic. We'd been looking for a crane for ages and the one in this 3 in 1 is great.With over 1200 pieces he needs them sorted into tubs but he helps do the sorting now and it takes under an hour and then keeps him amused for hours on end!We helped him with the first two builds finding bits and checking they were going in the right places but now he can make the models on his own.I'd highly recommend a LEGO Brick Separator to help pull the models apart.We now sort them into tubs as we pull the model apart to save time.The sorting criteria we use is (by type not colour):normal height bricks (two wide there's only a few)normal height bricks single widethin smooth top bitsthin single widethin two wide upwardswindows and sloped bitstriangle slope bits e.g. for wheel archescurved bitsgrillsnobs on sides and plates with holeshinges and fastnerslights, spindles, pins single thin and single roundbars with holes through (for chassis)unusual (all the odd shaped bits cogs etc.)tyres, wheels,axle bricks and axles

If you have the patience, then this is great, have plenty of coffee going when you first open all the bags, because you will find the pieces you need to complete a page in lots of different bags. Once made it is brilliant, the kids are having loads of fun with it.

The Lego Creator Highway Transport set is an amazing 3 in 1 set comprising of the highway transport, tow truck and movable crane. It also comes with two buildable smaller cars to use in conjunction with the main toy. All three of the models are good fun to build and to play with, with several features on each which can keep one enthralled for a long time.As you can probably tell by the box, this is a set aimed more at experienced builders, containing almost 1300 pieces. However the instructions are very detailed for all three models, and whilst challenging to build, the satisfaction from it is good, and the finished product is very sturdy. The kit also comes with 18 wheels, which are also a pleasant addition to any lego set.However, the way in which the bags are packaged is mystifying, as rather than the seperate models being in a selection of separate bags, they are mixed up seemingly at random. Some might say that's part of the spirit and fun of Lego, but for others it will simply be frustrating trying to find the next piece in a pile of over a thousand.

Santa brought this for my 9 year old. If you buy this, please ensure your child is supervised while opening the packets. Unfortunately mine wasn't, and he randomly opened every packet and emptied them excitedly on to the table. We have spent the 12 days since Christmas sorting through a huge pile of bricks in search of the smallest ever pieces! Having said that,I have been impressed by his patience. While I have been suffering a "Lego Headache" caused by the tension of looking for crucial parts that I suspect have gone down the gap between the floorboards, and the worry that we are going to run out of pieces before it's finished, he has battled on, with myself and his 16 year old brother, on a rota system. He has built one model, and has now almost completed the car transporter, which he is really impressed by.This set has occupied him for ages and he can't wait to play with the completed model. Overall, I'd highly recommend this set.

Bought for a friend's boy as a joint present as a bit expensive but now think worth the money as he decided when he'd opened it that he was not going to school LOL! He absolutely loves it, can't get enough and has finally got him away from the PS3. No mean feat I can say!!
