An Honest Review!
I tried to savour this book but it was just too good and I rushed through it. The writing in large parts is absolutely beautiful. More impressive still, she manages to capture that Victorian gothic atmosphere so well, without losing the accessibility and faster pace of modern storytelling. I love how she brings this era to life, highlighting the corruption and greed that drove so many on their quest for wealth and status. This novel interrogates voice and agency viewing the restrictions placed on subsets of people based on their gender, sexuality, class, and disability.Though there is plenty of mayhem and on the edge of your seat hold your breath drama before that point! My heart ached constantly for the treatment of the women and children in this book. The ending for me was worth it to see it all come together, and I appreciated the descriptive writing, emotion, and mood of the book.

Uniquely inspiring
I have read Bridget Collins and she is PHENOMENAL.In this dark, Victorian gothic novel, with extremely unsettling plot and even more unsettling characters and their relationships with each . Bridget Collins is something else entirely. Her writing is unique, mystical and very very original. And it took me a lot of time to get through it but I enjoyed it quite thoroughly. Never have I ever read such a psychologically twisted but well written book. Every Victorian gothic- era novel lovers should have this on their shelves.

The Silence Factory: A Hit or a Miss
Silence is not only silence, sir, it is attention it is sanity.”A story of tangled threads that ensnare you in a shroud of suspense and enigma: The Silence Factory is a Gothic historical suspense novel by Bridget Collins. The story unfolds in a dual timeline. One was set up in the 1800s when Sophia Ashmore-Percy went to a Greek island with her husband who was searching for a rare specimen. The other is decades later when an aurist Henry Latimer visits Sir Edwards’s home to cure his daughter’s hearing disability.Henry, a widower, who wants to escape his past and monotonous life finds Sir Edwards’s world tempting and magical. After Sir Edward tells him to help him in his business of magical silk that’s made of a spider’s cobweb. As Henry starts helping him he finds himself tangled in a cobweb of uncertainty and Strange feelings. The plot possesses uniqueness and originality. It had great potential but it failed at some points. The book felt very long and most of the time nothing is happening. However, it doesn’t get boring due to the captivating and intriguing writing style. The writing was very descriptive, it kept me hooked. The vivid imagination was very good. The characters weren’t helping the book at all, our protagonist Henry was intentionally stupid and ignorant. Only Sophia’s character looked good and engaging. The ending was justified but still, the magical element didn’t get the conclusion that it deserved. My favourite part to read was Sophia Ashmore’s diary. The diary part is really enjoyable and it helps the plot. For me, the diary was the soul of the book. Her relationship with Hira, the only woman on the Greek island who knows English was portrayed beautifully. Also the cover of the book is soo pretty 😍If you’re into Gothic literature, love descriptive writing and a book set up in the Victorian era, you’d love this book. It gives a classic-like feeling and the prose is very slow and tender. But if you’re looking for something fast-paced and exciting then this book is not for you.

"The Silence Factory" by Bridget Collins is an excitingly gothic novel with two narratives running simultaneously. Sophia Ashmore-Percy sails to a deserted Greek island with her spouse in the year 1820 and explores it for herself.Dual timelines are interlaced together with such skillfulness that keeps an air of enigma about them all along keeping the whole story tense. I really liked the character of Sir Edward.
