Soulshaping by Jeff Brown
After studying science, religion, and philosophy for more than 40 years, I have finally found a practical grounded approach to spirituality, a marriage between Eastern and Western consciousness that Jeff calls weastern consciousness, this is about ascending with both feet on the ground and living a full, meaningful, authentic life. Jeff Brown is showing us a way to live a spiritually grounded authentic life by sharing his journey with us, leading by example so that we can live our life's purpose here on earth. Others have shown us part of the picture, to love and forgive, and that pain and suffering are a result of not having our expectations and desires met, and Jeff with the paradigm shift of...this is as real as it gets and we are given this gift of life and this human body, a divine, finely turned instrument that if we listen and feel we are being guided from our inner spirit, the inner spirit that we all share. Jeff's journey hasn't been easy. He did suffer through a painful and tumultuous childhood. He became a brilliant criminal attorney and then the inner voice spoke to him, he resisted at first, and then explored psychology and bioenergetics, and still the voice, the voice he calls little Missy, kept speaking to him and finally he started writing the book Soulshaping, he was following his path, one that he had resisted for quite a while, he walked away from the financial security he would be having as an attorney and and a psychologist , both offering him financial security and prestige to follow his spirit voice. I am grateful to have found this book that has dramatically changed my life for the better, and for having the opportunity to meet Jeff Brown in person. He is real, wears no mask, plays no games. He is a wonderful, loving, honest, authentic, human being. We have an opportunity and an example set before us how to live an authentic, meaningful life. Let us wake up from our denial, our spiritual bypass, from our slumber to be here now. Thank you Jeff Brown.

A Real Log Jam Buster! This book will challenge you to open your heart and manifest your highest good!
Jeff's book, "Soulshaping" is so deeply candid and real that he inspires us to be our most authentic selves. His work both challenged and coerced me out of a depression and malaise that had kept me stifled in a book project I had been only dabbling with for a decade. Even though I felt massive resonance and chi rushes throughout my body whenever I worked on that book (also here at Amazon and called "The Shouting Tree -- The Way of Redemption") I could not bring myself to be as candid and self revealing as completing the book required. But then Jeff showed me his own massive courage and vast heart and I knew what had to be done. His work is brilliantly compelling, authentic and loving, heart felt and awe inspiring. His use a metaphor delights and amuses while it provokes reflection and deep introspection. Soulshaping gives me great hope for the future of male - female relationships, indeed for ALL partnering relationships: that they will evolve to be the truly sacred unions they were always intended to be, each partner lifting the other to greater and greater integration with their own inner moral self and enCOURAGING us to reach our highest good. Soulshaping is a wakeup call and it certainly did its work on me and my life. Thank you Jeff Brown! You have restored and reinforced my faith in how deeply interconnected our hearts and minds and lives truly are. I consider my own work a ripple effect of your own splendid and tender bombshell dropped into the heart pool of our world. My love is upon you, dear Brother in consciousness raising and the revolution of Self revelation presently underway in our love hungry world.

This book is an absolute game changer if you are on the path for spirituality and it's true meaning. I have so many pages highlighted and I go back often just to read through his concepts. He goes against the grain and actually gives you permission to be human. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

A great roadmap for inner wholeness
I identify with the author’s path towards self discovery, and am glad that he chose to share his experience as honestly as he did. I gain strength in knowing that I am not alone in recovering the parts of myself that remain trapped in the past (and in my body), and that truth and freedom are the greatest reward.

Soul searching and dragging
I liked the way it was presented as a story. There were, for me, draggy moments when I wanted to say, "just get on with it!" I couldn't quite figure out from the story how all these soul searching spa/seminar type trips were affordable with the description of dysfunction in the practical world...just a thought that kept jumping to my mind. There are nuggets in here of goodness and usefulness, and the use of language is interesting. Pointing out the basic idea of how we bypass things using various emotional burying techniques is something that spoke to me. There is a lot of deep soul searching here. Respect for your journey, Jeff. Your baring and sharing your soul is remarkable and inspiring.

Jeff Brown, the guru of the neurotic self
I agree with a lot of what Jeff Brown says, unfortunately a lot of people fall prey to spiritual bypassing, thinking they can transcend all the messy psychological wounding - that we all have - by using spiritual practises. However, I think Jeff Brown falls into another trap, it is obvious reading his books that he has never had a full liberation experience, and so he tries to turn standard psychotherapy practises, and his own neurosis, into a spiritual path with him as the guru. But really he is still very attached to his victim identity .... This makes him very popular today as this is a trap that many fall into. Jeff Brown has just swung to the opposite extreme of those that spiritually bypass. We need to to the work healing our wounds and neurosis using psychotherapy practices, but we also need to do the spiritual work where we go beyond these stories and realize that our true self was always there and never touched by any of this and it is not who we really are. We work on both planes, the relative and the absolute. It is obvious that Jeff Brown never experienced the absolute and he is trying to make the relative a spiritual path, and the adoration he gets off his fans is just feeding his narcissism. It is obvious that Jeff Brown has no regular spiritual practise. Writing books and poetry about psychotherapy is not a spiritual path and he is deceiving those who follow him, but he is not aware of this as he is also deceiving himself, lost in his own delusion.Sure, hitting a cube with a baseball bat may be a healthy way in psychotherapy to help someone who has always repressed their anger to get in touch with it, to own that they actually have anger and to feel the energy of it. However then we can eventually become more comfortable with owning our anger and find healthy ways to allow the energy to arise, address it and express ourselves. Jeff Brown has become addicted to acting out his anger, and there is something wrong if you are still needing to beat up a cube, swear and rage, many years later. It is a very crude way of allowing the energy to move. The inner child may be having a tantrum, but as an adult we can allow ourselves to feel that energy and then find an adult way to react if we need to.By all means, if you have an interest in psychotherapy, read Jeff Brown's books, he is very familiar with the terrain of neurosis, however he is still very much attached to being a victim of the past, of his upbringing etc, and is still stuck in angry blaming mode. Do not read him thinking you will get any spiritual insights as he is not awakened, he has never gone beyond his own neurosis. Better stick to Ram Dass if you want someone who has awakened. There are actually enlightened masters out there who don't spiritually bypass, Mingyur Rinpoche, Thich Nhat Hanh, or the Dalai Lama, follow them for spiritual guidance, go to a psychotherapist for help with your neurosis. Also if you want to learn about spiritual bypassing, I would recommend John Welwood who is far more realized as a spiritual practitioner.

Insightful and inspiring
I ordered this book because I love Jeff Browns facebook messages. I was delighted to find the book was as well written and challenging in terms of reflecting on life and how it unfolds. He shares how he wrestled between the career he trained for which would bring him everything the world says he needs i.e. money, success, prestige and a path that made no sense if viewed from that worldly perspective. I have wrestled in a similar way which is why this book spoke to me. There is far more to his words as he also describes the relationship we have with ourselves and how we like to pretend parts of us don't exist because we think they are not as important or likeable as other. This is a shortish book that goes deep and yet entertains. I found I'd read a section and then be compelled to put it down and reflect before reading on. Having said that I was also compelled to keep reading. I will read this again many times in my life. Its honest, open, warm, real and worth every penny.

Great, honest, and very real.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jeff writes so honestly about his path. The realness of his words touched me. The pains and pleasures of living on earth in this century affects us all. There is no airy fairy hippy type writings here. You see yourself in him with all the difficulties that face us. Great read.
