Sweet Winter Story
This story may not appeal to everyone. I love Sibylle Von Olfers, my husband isn't a big fan. Both of my kids are huge Root Children fans and prefer that story over this one. However, I think the the Wind and Root Children books go nicely with this book...almost like a set....but not quite.I love the nature metaphors and waldorf-y pagan tones. The metaphors leave a bit of room for interpretation and discussion as the kids get older, making it appropriate for both young kids and older ones at the same time.My kids are 4 and 2. This story is the right length. Not too long, not too short. It holds the attention of both without boring them.Side note: Be sure to read the description of the copy being sold. The copy I received is a small one, just FYI. The small one is the only one that has been available for close to a year now on Amazon (as of Dec. 2013) so if you want the larger book or ones that match the other Von Olfers' stories, you may have to look elsewhere.

The Story of the Snow Children
Young children love this book. The pictures are quite lovely and little ones usually want to hear it again and again. The first time I read it to my 4 year old granddaughter I had to read three times in a row, as she kept delightfully requesting. It is about a little girl being taken to fairyland to the snow queen and then returning home again. Wonderful winter book. It is not about snowflakes being all individually different as one review said before I bought it. You can relie upon any book by this author to be lovely and pure and just what young innocent children need.

Wonderful
My 5 year old loves these books. He loves the story line because he can relate it to his own imagination. He loves the size of the book, which is perfect for his little hands. And he loves the illustrations because as budding artist himself, they are easy to recreate. Wonderful book all around.

Delightful book
I got this for my 3 year old. The story is sweet and simple, the drawings absolutely lovely. After the first reading, my daughter didn't seem as though she liked it too much. I thought that maybe the pace was just too slow, because it does have an old fashioned feel to it. But the next day we read it again, and then she asked me to read it twice more right afterwards. Each time we read it now, it turns into at least 3 times.

Classic winter tale - VERY SMALL SIZE.
I ordered this classic book because I wanted to give my daughter a sense of magic and wonder related to nature and winter. This book satisfied that desire. However, for the price I was really surprised by the size. It's about the size of a 3x5 inch index card. Thankfully it made a wonderfully cute little stocking stuffer, and the small size added to its adorability. But I might not have purchased it if I'd known it was going to be so small.

Beautiful
My 6 year old daughter loves this story! We read it every night for the first two weeks she had it. Then, for my own sake, I said we had to alternate some other stories. Beautiful and timeless.

Beautiful and sweet
My daughter really enjoys this beautiful and sweet winter book. Poppy sees snowflakes as snow children and it's a wonderful imagination story. This is a travel size book not the full size. I'd like to buy a full size one too.

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful
This book grips my three year old son. It concisely takes the child on a journey into the fantastical with the thrills and the ever lurking danger that you'll never want to return yet reassures the child that they can always come safely home. It is an archetypal fairy story that Jung would love but probably not quite as much as a preschooler!
