My husband and I have two very different hair types - his is thick, dry and coarse vs mine which is fine, flat and somewhat oily. This shampoo bar has worked really well for both of us. It makes his dry scalp/hair very soft, and my fine hair is really clean without being 'limp'; if anything, my normally very flat hair has a bit of 'fluff' to it, which is something that never ever happens with other shampoos. Ever. I guess it's because there's no "chemicals" - it just cleans the hair and scalp without leaving any residue. We both have had really good results whatever the reason. It lathers **very well**, although our water is good for that with any soap. Even so, just a quick rub with this bar really produces a lot of lather, and it rinses out so well. If your water is hard or has various other chemicals in it I imagine you'll have different results and less luck with the amount of lather, from most any soap. The scent is very light, which my husband likes (I'd like a bit stronger scent). When I opened the package the scent wasn't "bad", but I can't say I really liked it. But when I shampooed with it, it actually smelled nice & clean, and my husband said the same. I would say this 'Mountain Rain' has a clean scent (as opposed to 'woodsy' or floral). For the price, I feel like the bars are a bit small, but I do like the idea of the bison tallow, no "chemicals", and supporting a small business. I'm interested to try the other scents in this soap line, and would purchase this particular bar(s) again. **Update: This soap has worked so well for both of us that we use it on our body and as shampoo. It is good on my dry skin - I won't say it's some "miracle cure", but it definitely doesn't make my skin feel dry at all, like other soaps do. My husband has an issue on his scalp, face and neck that causes his skin to be red in spots with flaking patches that dermatologists haven't figured out (other than to say he has "dry skin"), and since using this soap his skin has actually improved quite a bit. Obviously, everyone will have different results, but it's working for us and I purchased a couple more bars from the website because they were out of stock here at the time. I also tried the tallow salve, which feels great, in the Mineral Pool scent. I really like that scent a lot - it's a very 'clean' scent also, and I will be ordering a couple of bars in that scent. But, I like the castor oil content in this Mountain Rain bar, which I wish was in the other bars/scents. I recommend this soap if you want a product that is about as 'pure' as you can find. It will work for you or not, but you won't know till you try it.

This bison tallow soap is legit. It lathers up great, lasts forever, and has a strong, rugged scent that basically says, "I chop my own firewood and wrestle bears, but I also moisturize." But here’s my question—isn’t tallow what they use to fry fries? So now I’m scrubbing down with the same stuff that makes fast food delicious? Honestly, I was a little concerned I’d step out of the shower smelling like a deep fryer, but nope—just pure, outdoorsy, lumberjack-level freshness. Bottom line: I smell fantastic, my skin feels great, and now I kinda want a burger. 10/10 would lather up again. 😂🔥🦬

I was very surprised at how well this shampoo works. It smells great, works really well at getting your hair clean, and leaves it very soft! I was also able to eliminate conditioner from my hair care routine because of how soft this makes my hair! An added bonus is it doesn't make your hair or hands gummy after applying it, like other tallow products iv'e used. I will be continuing to use it for the foreseeable future!

I love that the list of ingredients can be counted on your hands and they are all natural. The bar works great. It lathers up and my hair feels clean.

I’ve had dandruff for as long as I can remember. I’ve tried every big name brand and doctor recommended shampoo on the market to try getting rid of it and not a single one worked. I used Big Crazy Buffalo for a week and I haven’t had a flake for the last year. You get a great lather, you hair doesn’t feel dried out or brittle after you shower and it has a very subtle scent which I’m a fan of.

Fragrance is pretty strong. Works well as a shampoo. Would recommend using much less fragrance since some of us prefer less or no fragrance.

This stuff was amazing for about two weeks. It smells good, the scent was mild, it lathered well, but after a couple weeks my very long, thick, and fine stranded hair felt pretty disgusting. My hair stylist told me the tallow probably built up on my hair since I have so much of it and the hairs are very fine. I had to stop using it and get a deep clean and conditioning treatment from my stykist to get it out of my hair. My boyfriend used the rest of it after that, and he ended up having similar feelings.
