Vostok company story starts back in 1942, when one of the Moscow watch-making plants has been evacuated from Moscow to a little town Chistopol located on the Kama River. Defense equipment was the only company output during war years, but as soon as the war was over Vostok started to make mechanical wrist watches - the main production item ever since. In 1965 Vostok company was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Defense Department of the Soviet Union. This year marks the creation of the world-famous "Komandirskie" ("Commander") watch. Military watch grew very popular even with people who were unaware which end of the gun bullet comes off, mainly due to high precision, excessive reliability and durability. The appearance of the watch also contributes to its appeal - functional and clear-cut design invoked the feeling of belonging to the tough world of combat professional. The experience which Vostok gained through development of the army watch was the foundation of our next special watch - "Amphibian". This impressive timepiece in stainless-steel case endured the depth of 200 meters - kind of a wrist submarine. Success of the professional watches determined the company's present philosophy - to create mechanical watches maintaining precise timekeeping at any temperature, in any environment, surviving heavy pressure and blows. The viability of the chosen strategy is now time-proven. A vast multitude of people both in Russia and abroad boasting "Vostok" watches and various international prizes awarded for high quality and commercial success testify to this. In 1996 Vostok started a partnership with US "Capital Trading" company aiming to create a new generation timepiece.

Bargain old school hand wound watch.
Didn't know you could still get a hand wound watch until I came across this watch. If you are having a non active day this won't run down like some automatics I have owned. My one runs about 40 seconds fast a day but I don't let this bother me. When I wind it every morning I simply wind it back one minute and then it is near enough for the low price. The strap is not as bad as some say but I put a NATO on mine purely for the complimentary colours. The other comment people make is that the bezel moves of its own accord. This is not the case with mine and I make good use of it timing the cooking. The hardest thing with these watches is choosing which design to buy. I am so happy with mine that I have ordered an amphibian as well. Recommended.

The watch arrived one month ahead of delivery date, it was well packed and and boxed on arrival.
The watch was exactly as described, for the price it was well made and worked perfectly

Tremendous Value For Money
Why it has taken me so long to find a superb range of mechanical driven watches I'll never know - the Komandirskie Military models from Vostok are tremendous value for money - the specs are Russian Military design that offer good longevity to the owner, rugged and robust good time keepers.

Un reloj especial.
Es muy buen reloj, solo hay que estar pendiente de darle cuerda cada que se requiera. Lo recomiendo sobretodo para quienes somos fans de este tipo de reloj.

Leggero preciso e a buon prezzo
Semplice nell'uso e molto ben visibile e leggero. Si carica con circa 25 giri ed è preciso. Consigliato per chi fa sport e come regalo ai ragazzi

A basic but very cool bit of Cold War Nostalgia. Solid!
This is actually my second Vostok watch. I also have an Amphibia Automatic for awhile now - with no issues.I love the graphics on the Vostok watches and I also like the design of the watch in general - especially the caseback. It is designed in such a way that the gasket for the caseback doesn't get torn-up if you have to take the back off.The watch itself is very tough. Factoring that in with the lower cost of this watch vand this watch ends up also being an excellebnt beater watch.You can feel how solid it is when you go to wind it. Just be sure that you do wind it daily - if you forget, you will need to move the hands through a complete 24-hour cycle to advance the date one day - as there is no separate crown position for setting the date.Overall, I think it's very cool - but if you are looking for a cheap alternative to something like a Seiko SKX or an Orient Ray, then (in my humble opinion) this watch is not for you.If you are looking for a good solid timepiece with some history and conversation starting coolness, this is it.

ungenügende Qualität
Ich habe ein und dieselbe Uhr nun bereits zum 3. Mal gekauft. Der Verkauf erfolgte jeweils durch 3 unterschiedliche Händler. In allen drei Fällen jedoch war die Uhr fehlerhaft. Bei zwei dieser 3 Uhren war der Defekt sofort erkennbar, nämlich, dass die Uhr defekt war und bereits von Anfang an nicht lief. Bei der 3. Uhr kam dieser Mangel erst nach einigen Monaten zum Vorschein. In allen 3 Fällen ist mir auch aufgefallen, dass die Krone bei dieser Uhrensorte sehr wackelig und instabil montiert ist.Ich habe nun zwar wieder eine russische Uhr gekauft, aber keine mehr von Vostok.
