Huge upgrade from Mac keyboard
After 14 years, my original apple keyboard's shift keys started to fail. This unit looks almost identical but adds a backlight that is well worth it, there's a slider that you can adjust the color from white to anything RGB or in between. It also has an adapter to convert from the old usb2ports on older Macs to the modern usb-C ports on the newest ones. The only drawback is it has 1 USB port instead of 2, but it is still well worth it for the backlighting. The key clicks are also louder than the original apple keyboard, but I actually prefer to hear the keys as I'm typing so that's a non-issue for me.

Right shift key doesn't register when pressed on its left edge
This keyboard looks almost identical to the Apple wired keyboard. Visually, it fits right in with an Apple monitor and trackpad. My computer is in a dark corner of my office. I've had to turn the lights on just to see the keyboard, when natural light was otherwise enough. Having a backlit keyboard definitely helps. It is easy to adjust the brightness using just the keys on the keyboard; no software install. Some keys are brighter than others. I end up with the backlight at or near full brightness so that I can easily see some of the more poorly lit keys. Being able to adjust the backlight color is a nice touch, but not a necessary feature. The key feel is a little lighter (less stiff) than the Apple keyboard. It's also noisier than the Apple keyboard. I got used to both after a couple of weeks. The one complaint I have has to do with the right shift key. Pressing it on the key's left edge does not register as a keypress. It seems like the key switch is too far to the right, or they need two key switches for this key (I think Apple uses two key switches in its keyboard). The result is significant difficulty trying to capitalize letters on the right side of the keyboard. For example, the letter "i". I type that with my right hand, with one finger holding the shift key down, and another stretching to the "i" key. I end up pressing the left edge of the shift key, and so I get a lower case "i" most of the time, which I have to go back and correct (using both hands).

Hey it works.
The backlight isn't all that bright, I think it's way over priced and it's definitely not an ergonomic design. It sit almost flat with no inline whatsoever. I wanted a keyboard for my MAC that wasn't solar powered. I like that it is connected to the Mac via a cable. The solar one was nice when I had the Mac in a southernly facing room, but when we moved across country the room where I have the Mac now is facing north and the light just isn't bright enough to keep the solar powered keyboard charged.I've read all sort of really negative reviews on this keyboard, but so far it's working. Don't know how long iy will hold up though, but I'm not a heavy user of keyboards. Still though it is way overpriced and the ergonomics could be improved

Most "Apple-like" keyboard
I was using Final Cut Pro on my new Mac which came with a small Bluetooth keyboard. The original apple keyboard looked nice and worked well, but some keyboard shortcuts in Final Cut Pro require the full size keyboard. Also I was doing film editing in low lighting and needed a backlit Mac keyboard so that I could see the keys. I also wanted it to look nice and match the original keyboard style. This was the only keyboard I found that had all these features. It also has a cord which I prefer to Bluetooth. Finally, an added bonus is you can choose the back-light color. This really helped me as I discovered that I see cyan in low light much better than I can see the other colors. Some reviewers mentioned uneven backlighting, which is true, but it's minimal, and I can definitely read all the keys.

beautiful failure
this is a beautiful keyboard but its beauty is definitely only skin deep. multiple keys failed and the entire backlight control wheel stopped working less than 2 months in. the backlight intensity is uneven across the keyboard, with the brightest keys on mine being the delete, end, and page down keys while the function keys, tab and other left edge keys are barely visible. contacted matias customer service as this was purchased new in 2018-september, and they are replacing it under warranty. even still though, i cannot recommend this keyboard.UPDATE: matias customer service sent a replacement under warranty at no cost to me, without asking for a return of the failed keyboard. the replacement keyboard arrived with the numeric keypad keys "clear", "7", "4", "1" all dead, as well as "PF18" and the "forward delete" key. i give up. i have a macally wired keyboard ($17) that does the trick: it doesn't look as nice, or have the same touch-feel as the matias, but it actually works and it's literally 1/5th the price.

I can finally use my keyboard in the dark
Pro: Multiple color lighting options, same layout as wired Apple keyboard. No batteries, wired. Soft key press.Con: NoneUsage: When used at night the light easily helps me find the correct keys to press. If used in the daylight, using the back light makes the keys difficult to see. Turning off solves it of course. Cyan is easier to view over other colors, but it is nice to have the options. Also nice to never have to worry about batteries.Pictured: Cyan Level 1 brightness(Min), Cyan Level 10 brightness(Max)

Drops & Adds Characters
Be sure to look at what is being typed. This keyboard frequently drops or adds (doubles) characters as you are typing.

Died after 1 year of infrequent use and SHOCKED ME!
Had this plugged in for a bit less than a year to a mac mini used mostly for storage and occasionally playing videos in my kids nursery. Went to use it yesterday and when I touched it I got shocked! The backlight (which I had always had turned off) went on and stayed on while the keyboard completely stopped functioning as a keyboard.

Has resisted the test of time
I wasn't so sure at the beginning so I waited to write this review for VEEEEEERY long. Now that I've had this keyboard for over three years, I can tell it's so good, I haven't been able to find a better replacement that matches my requirements: Original [i.e., Apple] looks, illuminated, wired, full sized (including numeric keypad & full function/multimedia keys row), with premium materials. The only grudge I still hold against it is it doesn't turn off automatically when you are not using it, the way Apple's do. Guess those sensors would make it ridiculously more expensive.

Good looking, nice feel to the keys.
Well designed, and quality construction nice operation and feel.Would have liked keyboard backlight to be a little brighter, and another usb socket like the Mac model it replaces.Overal quite happy with the keyboard.
