Turning me into a coffee snob
Really like this machine. Fanciest prior was a grinder and K-cup machine, thought I was riding high with fresh ground coffee. I've always been the basic coffee, sugar, cream kind of guy. Like the Cappuccinos every once in a while if I was out and about (almost never). Got over espresso when I was stationed in Italy and had some fresh squeezed beans in a shot glass cup. My son kinda got me started on a Starbucks something/something fancy thing, but I couldn't remember the name of it. Twenty years USAF LE, coffee was life. So, saw the 3300 version on Amazon Day sale and figured why not. Was about to order it when I saw there was a 4400. Twice the cost? Why? Checked it out. That is when I found out that there was different types of coffee within coffee types. Who knew? Always thought a latte was coffee and milk, put some sugar with it, it's what I drank. Then saw a Latte Macchiato, figured latte with different name. Nope, seems there is a coffee to milk ratio that is different, not to mention milk vs frothed milk. Saw a few more options of the 4400, worlds of coffee creations started swimming through my head. Head started hurting...more than coffee, cream, sugar? And not needing specialty store that charges umpteen dollars a cup? Not to mention trying to figure out what the actual size of their cups are. Then saw there was such a thing as a 5500. Oh no! Looked, nope. May be turning into a coffee snob (cappas. lattes. crema. oh my), but cold brew? No. Coffee must be hot otherwise it ain't coffee and why bother. This line I cannot cross. So, got the 4400. Saw the reviews about leaks and such. Ain't had no problem. When I first put milk in the latte go container, it did leak. My fault, didn't snap the bottom closed. Water in the drip tray? Well, it does rinse out the nozzles, where do you think it goes? Did put a cup and then a bowl down to try and cut down on it, but it doesn't help. Doesn't matter anyway. The machine tells you when to empty the grounds container, empty the drip tray the same time. Played with the grind size when I got it. Switched back and forth, couldn't figure out which way was a finer grind. Didn't look at the marking either, so, oh well. At least it has pictures for the drinks, so I don't have to guess on that. I have been very happy with the coffee that has been coming out of this machine. The only complaint I have is that of quantity. I use a mug (why bother with cups) and end up having to brew two cycles of some types. Some let you do a double, others don't. No problem there either, doesn't take long from grind to finish. Not to mention I can mix they process. So far my favorite is brew a regular latte then brew a macchiato on top of that. Fills the mug nicely and tastes great. As for sugar, which I still use.. That goes in first and gets stirred up when the first latte coffee is brewing in, before the frothing takes place. Shake/roll the mug after the top goes on and the sugar dissolves through nicely. Yeah, all this just to say this machine makes good coffee, runs well and I'm glad I paid the extra for the added choices. Not to mention being able to keep the mechanics of the thing cleaner and oiled. Should last quite a long time. Now, excuse me while I drink down my double caffe crema with a frothed topper.

Excellent Coffee, Easy Maintenance, and a Great Everyday Experience
After researching several fully automatic espresso machines, I ultimately chose the Philips 4400 LatteGo. After using it daily for over a month, I can confidently say I am extremely pleased with my decision. The coffee quality is excellent, the machine is easy to use, and the drinks have distinct flavor profiles that consistently produce rich, satisfying results. There are more drink options than I will probably ever use, but I view that as a benefit rather than a drawback. As I continue exploring the menu, I find myself expanding my coffee horizons. The coffee strength, coffee volume, and milk froth level can all be adjusted to suit your preferences. The LatteGo milk system is one of the biggest advantages of this machine. It is simple to attach, easy to clean, and produces excellent milk foam. If you want extra froth, there is even a froth-only option. If you want hot water for tea or hot chocolate, simply remove the LatteGo container and brew hot water directly. Cleaning was a major consideration for me, and Philips did an excellent job. The automatic rinse cycles and quick-clean components make maintenance almost effortless. Emptying the drip tray and coffee grounds container takes only a couple of minutes. Another pleasant surprise is how quiet the machine is. The grinder noise is minimal. The first few times I used it, I actually checked to make sure it was grinding because it was so much quieter than I expected. I was initially concerned about the bean hopper size, but after using the machine, I appreciate the compact design and smaller footprint. It fits my countertop perfectly while still holding enough beans for daily use. One tip: very oily espresso beans may occasionally need to be stirred in the hopper so they continue feeding properly. For me, this has been a minor inconvenience rather than a real issue. If you’re looking for a fully automatic espresso machine that produces excellent coffee, is easy to clean, quiet, user-friendly, and reasonably priced, the Philips 4400 LatteGo deserves serious consideration. Highly recommended.

Very expensive brown water
Like others, I should have paid more attention to the 1 and 2 star reviews. This piece of machinery produces very expensive brown water. Not only was it a waste of money, it was a huge waste of time. I spent hours over the course of three days trying to address all of the potential issues/solutions I found online. Some warned against using beans that might be too oily (leading to excessive bridging) so I cleaned the whole thing out and tried, not one, but two more bean varieties which were drier. No difference. Some warned that the bean levels had to be maintained just so in the hopper for proper feeding, or you literally had to stand over the hopper to stir the beans to make sure they fed properly. No difference. Some warned that the first 5-10 cups were going to be weak to "allow the system to self-adjust and optimize the grinder/brew unit for the best coffee extraction" - whatever that means, and I brewed 20-25 cups waiting for improvement. No difference. Some warned that the machine produces some drinks better than others (i.e. that the espresso would be pretty good, but the coffee is terrible) so I tried a variety. No difference. I even tried using pre-ground (which defeats the point of a "fully automatic"). No difference. In the end I had to add two espressos to my coffee just to produce something that looked and tasted remotely like coffee. The bottom line is that this machine is incapable to producing good coffee, espresso, etc. because it either can't feed enough through the hopper or can't apply the right pressure to the grounds - it appears to be both. It isn't at all customizable - you would think you could adjust the strength, or even the amount of beans for this price, but you would be wrong. In the end, you'll be emptying/rinsing/wiping out small amounts of soupy used grounds from the bin every time - NEVER anything resembling a puck with the espresso. Returning. Turns out it is too good to be true. Back to my manual process.

Impressive and easy clean up
I have another popular espresso machine. It still works great, but the grinder can be loud and the process of making any type of coffee leaves a mess to clean up after. I decided to look into a fully automatic espresso machine. After much research I decided on this Philips 4400 series machine. The features looked good and seemed to do every type of coffee me and my wife like. It also seemed to be easy to use and would not have to do much clean up after making my coffee. My only concern was if it was going to be able to make a strong enough espresso or coffee Latte. Once I received the machine I set it up by following the instructions on both paper and on the screen. It was very easy to setup. I put some of my favorite coffee beans and started making espressos as that is the basis for just about all the other drinks you make. At first the espressos came out watered down. I made some changes to the settings and adjusted the grinding from 6 to 2. That made a huge difference. By the way, when adjusting the grinder, you have to do it while you're making an espresso and only turn the nob once at a time. After getting the espresso to the right strength, I saved it to my profile. From there I tried ice coffee Latte and a hot coffee Latte. They both came out perfect and the frothy milk is fantastic. If you look at my photos. You can see how good the coffees came out with the frothy milk on top. Cleaning was a breeze too. I have the machine set to clean and warm at the beginning when I turn it on. It will drop some water when it does that, so I put a cup so that it doesn't fill the tray as quickly. When shutting off the machine, it will clean its self and will drop some water as well, so I leave a cup after as well. This really is an impressive machine with easy clean up. If you're able to get it on prime day or other time that has a discount, it becomes even more worth it. The only thing, I can think of that would make this machine even better, is if the outside was made completely of steel. I think it would give it that prime look and feel. On the other hand, the way it looks now, still looks nice and it's very light to move around. If you're considering a fully automatic espresso machine, I highly recommend this one.

Good enough but not professional quality
This machine is good enough. Not a waste of time or money. If you’re use to amazing hand made espresso then this won’t mimic it. It’s no “Rocket”. If you like Starbucks then this should work for you. What it is. It’s a good reliable machine. Not made in China! Easy as pushing a button. If you like a Cappuccino this will make one but you have to sort thru the drink menu. The instant button is only available on the more expensive model. Stupid! Espresso with temperature turned all the way up is still not quite hot enough. However, it does make solid hot water. It does make a quality froth with all milks. Remember to over fill the milk above the recommended level. Grind never gets fine enough. Brewing espresso is too light and too fast to get amazing. This is probably better than any other machine in its price point. Go ahead and buy it.

Great but does have some things to consider
2 year edit *** This machine is still working great after two years! No issues with it really the only thing that we have noticed is that a lot of times it will signal for you to empty the coffee grounds container and sometimes when it does it, there will be nothing in. It will have already been cleaned out or there will be times when there is not much in it and it will signal for it to be empty and other times when it is full to max and it doesn’t let you know. What that being said it’s not the biggest deal but just something I thought I would mention. We are still very happy with this purchase! 1 Month EDIT ****** After using this machine for about a month, I am happy to say that the water tank issue is no longer a thing. Not sure if it just needed a couple weeks for the filter to completely soak in the water but now I am able to make about 5 to 6 cups of coffee before I have to fill it up. before only half of the water would be used in the tank and I would be having to fill it and now it is almost empty as it should be when I need to fill it. Very happy that that has changed so if you were having this issue and you just bought it, just give it a little bit of time and it should work itself out. ******* I’m going to start with the positive on this machine. First off I bought this machine as a present for my fiancé for Christmas. We were using a Keurig k pod system for years and wanted something to upgrade to. I will start by saying the look of this espresso machine is beautiful. No complaints on all the way it looks so sleek and modern and the touchscreen makes it even better. Love the design. When it comes to the espresso. I think it tastes fabulous. I am definitely not a coffee connoisseur so there might be espresso snobs that may say the opposite because they may be used to having a top-of-the-line cup of espresso, but I am very happy with the taste. Now for the negative.. I’d probably say the most annoying thing about this machine would be how often you have to fill the water container. I did see this issue in the reviews when I was looking to purchase it, but didn’t quite get exactly how often you have to do it. You have to fill the water tank every 3 cups that you make which I think is a bit over the top. The second issue I have with this machine is that yes it has profiles, which is great, but they are not the kind of profiles that will save your coffee by just a touch of the button. You have to actually go to each individual coffee drink that you want and the adjustments will be saved from the last time you did it. That isn’t as big of a deal to me as the water is. Other than those two things, this is a great machine and a hell of an upgrade from our Keurig coffee drip machine. Overall, I am happy with this machine, but like I said, there are a couple of things to consider when buying it.

Meh
Loved it and hated it at the same time. It does make good cofee, it has a good few options, it is very convenient to simply push a button a get a cup of coffee, the disappointing part you may ask, the amount of coffee brewed, yes I get it, it is an espresso machine but it also makes regular coffee but the maximum amount made is kind of ridiculous, you would think paying this amount of money they could make a machine where you can not only adjust the strength of your coffee but also the amount dispensed, 2.7oz (maximum amount of liquid dispensed) or 3 sips, 3 SIPS!! from the latte or latte machiado option and your done with it. Got on the phone with Philips customer service, I was told that the amount of coffe CAN be increased, made it into a video call, walk through the steps, only to be told that the amount showed in the machine it was the maximum amount, so I was there, looking like a clown, lady, why would you waste my time then??? Also, why in the world is so hard for these companies to specify the amount in oz or whatever of coffee being dispensed?? I have spent weeks researching to get a replacement for this machine and there's no way to find this info, it's ridiculous! Overall, an ok machine but for the money, I wish I could get a a FULL cup of coffee, yeah, the pictures are VERY deceiving.

Love, love, love!
After being in France for a week, I developed a strong liking for real Cafe au lait. And then in Italy and Portugal I started drinking those cute tiny cups of expresso. My hubby and I decided it would be worth it to get this as a gift for ourselves since we both like coffee- and he likes fresh ground bean coffee. So all you have to do is pour some whole beans in the hopper at the top, fill the side dispenser with water, and add milk to the frother cup and press the button(s) to make cafe au lait. It tastes so good. It has ways to change the amount of froth and how strong you want the coffee and how much amount of coffee. If you use coffee grounds, this is not the machine for you. I can not get that function to work and a drip coffee maker is better for that. It is loud when it grinds the beans and heats the milk but it’s worth it. Clean up is pretty easy- it tells you when to dump the spent grounds (easy pull out tray) and if you forget to put in water, the machine stops itself, so no harm done. I love our deluxe coffee machine!

2 months and 1200+ coffees
I’m not proud of the amount of coffee my family and I have consumed in the last 2 months, but I will say that this machine has made it easy to do so. For starters if you don’t want to read, the machine is excellent and worth every penny, I’ve owned many types of coffee makers, super automatic and others and this one is by far my favourite, with the colour screen and huge option of coffees nothing even comes close in this price range. NOTHING. Ice espresso is a delight in the summer, the latte is better than any I’ve bought anywhere, the coffee is perfect, espresso is excellent, the spent coffee pucks come out nice and dry and as expected, this machine performs as well as or better than your local Starbucks or specialty café. The machine operates very quietly, however at around 800 coffees the machine started to lose its prime, so the water pump runs with a small air bubble and is now louder than when we first bought it. Some might also complain that you have to fill the water and empty the grinds frequently, WELL, unless you want to spend 5000$ stop whining. This machine actually cancels a coffee if the hopper doesn’t have enough beans, it will pause and prompt you to fill up the water if it runs out mid coffee, and continue the coffee once you’ve filled it, the milk doesn’t have the same ability, so fill it up according to the drink your making. Eliminate your kettle for making a tea, because this machine has a hot water function that works flawlessly with incredibly hot water, which can also be used to pour 100ml of super hot water to VERY QUICKLY heat up your mug ( my wife finds her coffee not hot enough because she likes so much cream ) I drink mine black and often goes right into a yeti. Its burn your mouth hot when your coffee is served. You will not regret buying this machine, Also, buy the right beans that are not oily for your hopper to work well. Oily beans are not good for super automatic machines. Tonino Lamborghini is a great choice. No affiliation with them. Just a huge preference.

Broken want piece replacement
Trying to ask for replacement of a part and the option is to return. I do not want to return. The machine is perfect other than the one part.

Fantastic Machine! (4400)
I waited 6 months testing this machine before o review it. This machine is amazing! Prefect good tasting cups of coffee and specialty drinks, always consistent. The grinder and machine is quiet, but the frother is loud. I love the external milk frother that’s very easy to clean. It foams and steams milk extremely well. I tried the frother with egg nog, oat milk, and other plant based with good results. The egg nog latte it makes is so good!! It won’t foam non dairy as well but it works! Cleaning/emptying the machine and adding water is very easy. Very simple to use with on screen controls and having 2 user profiles for custom user taste drinks. Good quality Espresso beans is the best and it holds many cups worth. I’m very happy I chose the 4400 model. There is nothing negative to say. It’s so simple, compact, and well designed. Recommended!
