A great pen light, choose your led color wisely.
This is a short review on the IYP365 Cree and Nichia version. This is my first pen light and it seems solid and we'll made. I recommend it. The overall quality is high. I've carried it about two weeks so far in my shirt pocket next to a not so smooth stainless pen and the black anodization held up without even a blemish and the gold bands add a touch of class. For as small as it is, the beam pattern is just like a full size flashlight. The button is large and requires a firm press to turn it on which helps prevent accidentally turning it on in your pocket. Half presses to change the brightness levels are easy. Output is consistent and it uses two AAA batteries. I've heard that rechargeable NiMH batteries work in it. I might get some to try out.I have both the Cree version and the Nichia version. I included a picture of the beam colors to give an idea what they look like in person. I felt the Nichia was too warm for my tastes with a distinct orange tint that I would estimate to be about 3000K to 3500K. The Cree version was cool white at about 6500K. I prefer this over the Nichia.I measured both lights with new alkaline cells on my Texas_Ace Lumen Tube which is freshly calibrated and is accurate to plus or minus 5%. Both lights delivered Low levels of around 1 or 2 lumen. Great for looking into eyes without being blinded. The Nichia Medium was 27 lumen and High was 141 lumen (above spec). The Cree Medium was 29 lumen and High was 184 (below spec). So it's a bit different than the rated specs, but it's more than fine. Both versions are impressively bright. You could easily walk your dog at night with these. The lower levels are perfect for walking around the house at night. It might make a good night stand light.I'm trying to find something to complain about, but there's not much to improve. The clip is a bit too tight, but you can bend it just a little to make it easier to clip over your pocket edge.Suggested changes include:Make the clip a bit lower to make it easier to grab out of your pocket.Maybe make the Nichia version a bit less warm and more of a neutral white in the 4500K to 5000K range.Maybe make the Cree version a bit less cool and closer to 5700K to 6000K.That's about all I can think off. No real complaints. I have to give it a 5 out of 5 star rating.

Needed for medical field
First of all, I love that the low setting is only 3 lumen. I find that a lot of the cheap disposable pupil lights are led nowadays and way too bright. Its miserable getting that bright of a light stuck in your eyes. This is just enough light to do the job and is much gentler for the patients. Also, having the medium and high settings are so handy for those times when you need a little more light - looking in someone's mouth, examining a wound, etc. This light is a little heavier than the traditional pupil lights, but it's not heavy enough to even notice in my pocket, whether it's in my shirt pocket or my pants pocket. What it offers is more than worth its weight. I can't imagine going back to a regular light.

amazing quality
Great penlight, unexpected bright for the type of battery.

Not as bright as I thought it would be but very nice and handy.
If you need a very small penlight this is the one you want. It doesn'tweigh too much and it works very reliably. :)

If you must have double AAA cells, this is about the best one
Most people should only purchase this light if they want an actual pen light as it’s thin, just over 5” in length, and clips in shirt pocket next to a pen. It uses regular AAA batteries and has a brightness of about 200 lumens. If you’re looking for 600 lumens or more, switch to a AA light or larger. For the price, it’s good. Not bad looking, the clip is adequate. It won’t roll off a table, and the single button gives: H-M-L-Off. When turning it back on, defaults to what you last had. There is no strobe, no zoom, no second color.I’d rather they used a stronger spring in the button, but it’s fine. The low setting is very low and uses little power, but it’s easy to think it’s off when it’s still on. I got in the habit of pointing the light at my hand to just the power level.

Very good light for the price
I am a veterinarian and I need to be able to get a small light into dark places, be it a mouth or ear or just underneath an animal that is refusing to hold still under an exam table's light. This works very well for that purpose, as well as the standard pen light function of checking pupillary light reflexes. It actually works better for illuminating the mouth/throat for intubation than the light on the actual clinical grade laryngoscope we have.I have quickly gone from never carrying a pen light to using this every day about 5-10x per day, I never leave home without it.

Burns batteries like crazy
At first I was soooooooo impressed with this light. It is light-weight, duriboe construction and looks great. Most of all it is bright as hell, especially considering it's size. It is a lot smaller than other lights I've been using for work (I'm a plumber) and again, at first I was ready to give it amazing accolades.Well, my more experienced peers kept telling me, when I was in the search for a better light than the Milwaukee pen light, that no matter what they've tried, they all just burn batteries like a Doobie at 4:20, but I figured I'd be fine. Anyway, to stop dragging this out, the point here is that this light burns through batteries like nothing I've ever seen. I'll put in a fresh set, get in a crawlspace and not make it close to 10 minutes before I can't hardly see a thing. This could be a good light still for some lite and basic around the house use, but if your a cop or tradesman, you may want to keep looking.
