This book has a great plot about a mom who's daughter was abducted. I would give it five stars but the last chapter is trite to give it a happy but very unlikely ending. As if it was an afterthought. Skip the last tiny chapter and I would give it five stars.I have found that her older books are better than her most recent, although those are good too. The older ones are more suspenseful and in my opinion, better written. It is kind of hard to imagine that the same person wrote them. Her book PURSUIT so far is my favorite of about 8 that I have read.

Vanished by Karen Robards
Vanished by Karen Robards. What a thriller. You had better have tissues ready. This one hits close to home. I am still wiping tears. Vanished is a sign of our troubled times. I think this is one of Robard's best and she is a terrific author. Reviewed by Heide Katros, Winter Haven News, Florida

A great book.
I read this book when it first came out around 45 years ago, and I also saw the 1971 made-for-television mini-series by the same name. I loved the story back then, although I had forgotten most of the details, But one thing I haven't forgotten is that from this book I learned of the existence of a little known island most people have never heard of before. Very interesting book. Upon reading it a second time, 45 years later, the story is just as compelling as it was back then.

A good read especially the initial build up
The story started well...liked the humour which cut down the tension and then the author built up the tension all over again ...The last part was disappointing though ...everything happened quickly ..too many things left to chance...the explanations were abrupt and too pat and the heroine did nothing extraordinary...looked like they just wanted to finish the story

I did enjoy this book
I did enjoy this book...the exciting first chapter got your attention then it really slowed down. I started to skim read due to a lot of excessive descriptive writing of homes, rooms, furnishings or dog activity..... stuff that did not need the amount of pages dedicated to it. But the dialog and the subject was what kept me reading...... I had to know Who, What and Why.

The book was listed as being in very good condition. The seller failed to mention that the dust cover was virtually destroyed, barely covering half of the book. Sigh. I was disappointed.

How to pronounce Beaufort, SC.
A good read, but I listened to it and couldn't get over the fact that the reader kept pronouncing Beaufort as "Boh-fort".

Good Story, but Sloppy and Inept Writing
The story is quite a good one, and this book would have rated five stars if Robards had bothered to learn her craft.

Reading should NOT feel Like Homework
Every once in a while when visiting my local library I pick up a book from an author I’ve never read before. I am partial to authors with many titles under their name.
