Broke the other glass. now have a perfect replacement

I purchased this to replace the carafe of my SterlingPro 34oz French Press carafe that broke. Unlike other reviewers, our carafe seems bigger. When my husband inserted it into the metal "basket" the sound of scraping glass was horrendous and we both expected the glass to break at any moment. Also, the first pot of coffee he made seemed weaker, make with the same amount of grounds, and filled to the same level of the carafe, which leads us to believe it is larger as well. Either way, an easy challenge to fix.

I bought this replacement beaker for my SterlingPro 8 cup coffee press as I recently shattered my original glass by accident when I was washing it. :( This was so easy to use and replace! For my SterlingPro coffee press, it literally took two minutes. There is a flat-head screw on the handle that you loosen and you can pop the old one out. This one fits perfectly in my holder- it has as nice and tight a seal as the original. I'm quite pleased!

Cheap piece of crap. It works, but it's not quality. The paper-thin glass breaks if you breathe on it too hard. My wife and I have already gone through two glasses now and won't be wasting money on a third. The second one (the replacement) broke the very first time we used it. I pulled it from the cabinet at room temperature, ground my coffee and put it in the glass, then poured the hot water in and it cracked instantly. Not just a little bit either. All the way across the bottom and up the side. I went ahead and finished making the coffee with it very very carefully, but then it fell apart the next day at the cracks. Don't wast your money on this unreliable piece of cheaply made crap. You get what you pay for. Invest in a nicer one that will last you a while.

BUY A BODUM! Absolutely horrible, I've been using a Bodum for years and loved it, no issues tough as hell. I purchased this SterlingPro, for a friend, and the glass came broken in it, that could be understandable, if this replacement carafe didn't break immediately in the package as well with no damage to the packaging. It claims to use "laboratory grade glass" but I don't know of any laboratory glass that would break in Styrofoam packaging or as they say in the manual won't handle extremely hot temperatures. Seriously, what laboratory glass or coffee press glass can't handle hot temperatures. Obviously you don't want to pour boiling water in, but generally when you make "laboratory grade" glass it can handle variances outside the suggested range for safety reasons. BUY A BODUM!

Had a flake of glass missing from the top of the beaker, Functions just fine but is a bit a unsightly. Also it is not exactly the same as the beaker which originally came with the press. It is ever so slightly smaller, though simply squeezing the holder can fix any looseness. Also the beaker flairs out at the top, and the lid jiggle slightly. Again, it almost functionally identical, but three stars because of the chip, and because you get something different from what is expected. I did not see anything in the description indicating any differences.

Like others have said, this is slightly smaller in diameter than the original SterlingPro beaker. That makes the plunger a little tighter which is not that big a deal. However, that also makes it looser in the holder which means you have to hold the top when pouring. Eventually I will forget and dump the beaker in the garbage can with the grinds. A slightly thicker tempered glass of the exact diameter of the original would get five stars.Had I spent the time to read all the reviews I would've chosen to replace the whole unit.

French Press are notorious for needing to be replaced because of the filter and the beaker.Sterling Pro provides extra filters with the original purchase, and has replacement beakers readily available.This is convenient- sometimes the parts are not offered separately on french press I have seen and purchased in past.This is good quality. It is easy to clean.I received this in exchange for an honest review. I always update my reviews if I encounter difficulty down the line.
