It is compelling, impactful and inspiring page after page to see such amazingly talented individuals that have laid the foundation for the industry we love today. One of the most comprehensive and thorough recollections of Black Americans in shaping fashion industry and culture. Supplemented with tons of beautiful photographs, many exclusively from the Fairchild Archive (original parent company of WWD), this collection of one-on-one interviews and primary source articles show an unfiltered and uncensored evolution of black history, including their struggles to simply be creators and creatives. An absolute must read.

The history and creativity in this book is a page turner. The author really to a great job with going into details about how Black Fashion was influenced by many great artists and giving information about designers who never got their dues in the fashion industry. This book is a most have for every generation who are interested in fashion design.
