The M1 Garand Owner's Guide

Where’s chapter 3?
The book itself is a wealth of knowledge on the M1 Garand. However, the publisher included chapter 2 twice. Chapter 3: Operation and Functioning is completely missing because of this error. I don’t know if that information is as critical as the assembly/disassembly and troubleshooting chapters (which are still worth the price of owning this incomplete book) but I’m giving 3 stars for a rather major publication error that prevents me from having all the information that I may need to operate my M1.

This thin book covers everything you will have to know about the M1 Garand
This book will fill your need to know about the M1, providing interesting history and events about the gun as well as covering in great detail its construction, assembly/disassembly, tips and recommendations regarding use, storage, cleaning -- you name it, Mr. Duff has it covered. If you are a gunsmith, you probably should opt for the multi-volume , very expensive, alternative on the market. But most of us who own and use or just cherish the M1 this little gem does nicely.

Necessary handbook for Garand owners
The book is well written and concise. For anyone who has always wanted a Garand or who has one and never been instructed on the nuances of the rifle this book is essential. Plus it is much more affordable than Hatcher's book (which is on my wish list).Reading the book and referring back to it has help me understand the M1 Garand enough to not look like a complete idiot the first few times I took it to the range. Still, the book won't prevent you from "Garand thumb"! That is a lesson that must be learned in person!Anyway, if you can afford the rifle and some accessories you can afford this book. Personally, I own two Garands and each is like owning a piece of our history. Shooting them is enjoyable enough but there is a sense of our history that is profound. This rifle played a huge role in our victory in WW2. A "force multiplier" is an appropriate description.

A great first book for the beginning Garand collector/shooter
Lots of information on manufacturers, nomenclature, the care and feeding of the Garand, with excellent line drawings for disassembly. The field of Garand collecting is huge, with all sorts of variations to look for. This book covers the basics, and is an excellent companion for the new Garand owner.

The M1 Garand: Owner's Guide
A lot of the information within this book has helped me understand and remember the M1 Garand. How great a weapon it is. I recommend this book for those who have an M1 Garand and need assembly/disassembly instructions, serial numbers from manufactures and much more information.

Excellent one-stop resource for the collector/owner
If you're looking for great, no-fluff info on the M1-Garand from someone who really knows his stuff, you need this book. I kept coming across the author's name in my research, saw he had written a number of books on this topic, and decided this was a book worth owning. He's also on the board of directors of the Garand Collectors Association. Enough said.

A perfect beginners book
This book is mostly a technical guide with measurements, specs, grease points, ammunition considerations, and take-down instructions. There are a few pages in the front containing historical information. There is a very helpful tips and tricks chapter by various authors whom are all experts with the M1 Garand. They book is laid out in a clear and logical manner that is easy to understand even for someone who is completely unfamiliar with the M1 (but not firearms).EVERYTHING THAT A FIRST TIME OWNER NEEDS TO KNOW IS IN THIS BOOK. I highly recommend it.

Sold as advertised, buy with confidence.
I like that this book is full of detailed information on the rifle. Scott Duff is a point of reference for these rifles. I use the book as a research tool to learn more about my own rifle.
