Reply to "Not for beginners"
Clearly the review entitled "Not for beginners" is from someone that was expecting the DVD to come with a free tin of magic that makes playing the guitar easy!Like all of Lick Libraries DVDs....this is another excellent addition with a perfectly (if not a little clinical) broken down 'how to' of five classic Oasis songs. And for the record - Jamie Humphries is one of a number of excellent teachers at Lick Library and makes perfect sense when explaining what to play.....I mean come on - how hard can it be when you have someone telling you where to put your finger and showing you in the video at the same time - duh!!If you're a complete beginner - obviously, you have to practice the basics before attempting any songs of some technical nature......but Oasis is not in the same technical league as the likes of Floyd, RHCP or Hendrix (other LL DVDs that are very good too) - so, this is an excellent way to push yourself up that technical ladder if you're at the beginning of your musical journey. It you're an intermediate player, you will have any of these songs licked in a couple of days max. The major stumbling block will be remembering the songs - not the technical stuff as Noel doesn't really do technical....but he does do very catchy and fun to play music that pretty much sticks with the Pentatonics - which goes down great at gigs coz its easy to improvise if you forget the odd lick...

Learning the Classics
I bought this DVD recently, found it quite easy to play some of the songs, though I thought some of the songs would be easier than the recent Peter Green Lick Library DVD I bought, but surprisingly its not far off this level. My weakness is rhythm guitar and so I found this more difficult than I imagined, but this is not due to the tutor Jamie Humphries who does a great job breaking down Rock n Roll Star, Champagne Supernova, Don't Look Back in Anger, Wonderwall and Live Forever.I would have liked Stand by Me, Cigarettes & Alcohol and maybe Supersonic (their best song), but I imagine those are perhaps too easy. Beggars can't be choosers, the ones that are on there are Oasis classics anyway.

Robot teacher
The teacher isn`t very enthusiastic about doing an Oasis dvd in fact he seems depressed a bit like that robot on hitchikers guide to the gallaxy!!! Dont get me wrong you will be able to learn these songs well enough.(exept he misses out the corus out on wonderwall) But licklibrary have much better teachers than this fella.

Reply To Above
You mentioned 17th Fret? Im guessing that's for the solo because throughout the Rhythm Guitar stays in 2nd and 3rd fret on Wonderwall.
