General Relativity: The Theoretical Minimum

Essential "Therotical Minimum"
I was fortunate enough to take this class live from Susskind himself. This, and the other books in the "Theoretical Minimum" series are a must for the mathematically competent, lay physicists. You know who you are.

Ótima introdução ao assunto
Direto ao ponto, evitando muitas discussões paralelas e focando no essencial, é um livro introdutório ao tema. Interessante refazer as passagens junto ao autor para consolidar o aprendizado.

The fourth volume of the Susskind Lectures on Physics
First of all, thanks a lot for the Susskind Lectures on Physics in video format since year 2008. All those videos can be now (or are being) complemented with books. The fourth volume (i.e. General Relativity), it meets perfectly the difficult equilibrium between rigorous introduction of the general relativity and accesible to the mathematically literate reader. Obviously, be aware that the tensor mathematics need an additional effort from the reader.

Fascinating reading for interested, non-expert readers
A very enjoyable reading provided you've got the proper tools and curiosity. This volume is part of the series "the theoretical minimum" books by the same main author (penguin paperbacks). In my opinion, a background in field theory and math analysis fundamentals is highly recommended for the comprehension of its contents. Personally, I had to re-read some chapters multiple times. If advanced math is not your bread&butter, you'd better go thru "the theoretical minimum" introductory book (same main author) first: it will help refresh your college reminiscences and put things into context. The concepts and the tools depicted in the GR book are powerful, elegant and fascinating, though sometimes hard to pick up, especially for non-scholars like me. Authors use a clear and coincise narrative to cover the subject: they really did their best not to intimidate the reader. If you liked it, try chew the special relativity book and the mechanics ones: the whole series is worth your reading time!
